Hi all.
I'm sure my problem is something I am doing wrong. All I want to do is make a collage of three or four images but I can not open more than one image at a time. How do I get the images into the layers pallet so I can edit from there. I can not find anything in the user guide that will tell me how to do it. I watched and tried the video tutorial intro to layers in PSP x5 but that didn't work for me either. I am using PSP x4 and I have spent hours trying to figure this out.
Thanks,
oldtap.

You say you can't open more than one image at a time. I wonder if you're using 'tabbed documents' so you can only see one at a time but have several open with tabs at the top?
If so, open the Windows menu and check if 'Tabbed documents' has a check mark. Click on it to uncheck it, and you can then see every open image, cycle through them and move them around the workspace.
Then you can copy an open image and paste it as a new layer into another document.

1. Show the image you want to copy.oldtap wrote:How do I get the images into the layers pallet so I can edit from there.
2. Use Ctrl+C to copy it to the Clipboard.
3. Show the target image.
4. Use Ctrl+V to paste the copied image into it as a new layer.
5. Repeat as necessary.
There's no need to show all the images at the same time.

You can also copy a layer from one image to the other by opening the layer palette and dragging the layer button from the source image to the target image. The target image itself, not the layer palette.

Re: opening images as layers
There is also a script out there that will actually open an image as a new layer. This script can open as many images at 1 time as you want and copy them all as individual layers into the current document.
Can be downloaded from here: Open As Layer Script
Who knows maybe one day I'll even make it a smart script. Right now it just takes the first selected layer in the image and copies that. So if you're feeling lazy, and don't mind using the standard Open dialog (won't work from the manage mode) this script is for you. *cheesy smile*
