Mts Files load
This never ever happened before. I tried to load mts files made with my Panny, but they refuse to load into the program. The files play in all my other players. Any Ideas would be appreciated. They opened in my backup computer without issue. My error, should be m2t-not mts. Ken is right about m2t as the output of VSP 8, but mp4 or even m2ts that, I have never seen.

Re: Mts Files load
Frankly, I didn't think it was possible to make video using the .mts extension in Video Studio! Certainly most AVCHD camcorders use the .mts extension but when processed though VS even using the Same As share output command, they come out either as .mp4 or more usually .m2ts. So how exactly did you produce these .mts files and what are their Properties? It also seems strange that they play on everything else except one computer... Assume you have rebooted it?

Re: Mts Files load
My Panny TM 900 gives MTS files which I have used for at least a couple of years without any problems. Suddenly, nothing would load. Reinstall and image backup failed. Finally, things worked out and now the program works as it should, but that was very scary. I would not like to see a repeat of this again. Windows gave a message that VSP 8 was incompatible. Something just went crazy, but it seems the gremlins have left for now. I always get m2t files from VSP 8 and 7. I change them later to m2ts so that TSMuxer can recognize them for further processing.. Never had a problem. Thank God all is well now and I hope it lasts. My input is mts and my VSP 7/8 output is m2t since day one, no mp4 or m2ts. I use "same as project" setting or "first clip" when rendering.

Re: Mts Files load
Hi
Also use a Pana 900. Its not all clear cut……
Depending on how I transfer the files from the camera depends on the extension used.
1 / Copy and Paste gives --- 00008.MTS as showing on the SD card
2 / Using VS Import Digital Media gives -- 150509_142244_import.m2t
3 / recordings using 25 or 50P give the same extensions m2t
4 / Using earlier versions of VS may give different results as some earlier video used 150509_142244_import.MTS instead of m2ts, (notice the upper lower case?)
I don’t worry about the actual imported extension,
When rendering to “same as” I always end up with m2t, I have never seen a MP4 file extension from my pana files.
Pepegota, I have tried many options to render my pana files and cannot create one using MTS extension.
I am sure you are correct as the extension does not seem to form any logical pattern, I have a mix of MTS and m2t imported, but as Ken says always m2t when rendered. (I don’t see m2ts)
Asik these are the properties of my Panasonic video files.
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 16800 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)
Others use 50P

Re: Mts Files load
I shoot 1920x1080, 60P and render to 1280x720 Blu-Ray for TV viewing. I use a card reader to transfer data. I convert the rendered m2t to m2ts by adding the "s" to make it TSMuxer friendly. Files from the Panny camcorder would not load into VSP 8. They are mts. This never happened before as only audio and jpg files could be loaded. Panny data was always accepted. A strange thing happened. I could not import any video extensions. I got a message that Windows had changed VSP 8 into compatibility mode- crazy to be sure. After image restores and using the "cleaning up" tool things turned back to normal, but this was scary. I hope there is no reoccurrence.

Re: Mts Files load
Hi pepegota
Do you find 1280 x 720 x 60P better quality than 1920 x 1080 x 30fps for Bluray discs.
I assume you are burning a disc?
As you are aware 1920 x 1080 x 60P is not a BD standard, but would play via USB memory stick.

Re: Mts Files load
To add further confusion, I have just rechecked and confirmed that my output of AVCHD in X8 and earlier versions always uses the .m2ts extension (apart from GoPro AVCHD which, using Same As, always uses .mp4). Moreover, the transport stream (ts) version of BD-compatible mpeg-2 also, like its BD-compatible AVCHD equivalent, also uses .m2ts. I only ever see .m2t from my Canon HDV camcorder, which of course is not directly BD-compatible.

Re: Mts Files load
All very strange - like Trevor all files from my Panasonic are MTS and when copied from SD card to HDD thats what I edit - and like Trevor after rendering a project then I have m2t files
The only m2ts files I have are those that I used HDWriter - software supplied with camcorder - to transfer from camera to HDD - and VideoStudio is quite happy to edit those as well
