How create Square Aspect Ratio? (for Instagram)

I've been asked to create a series of animated videos for Instagram. These will need a square aspect ratio. I do not know what other options they will need.

Does anybody have experience with this? How do you set VSP for a square aspect ratio? Do you know other options to set to work with Instagram?

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure I have never created a square video, seems a strange request when normal sizes would be 4:3 or 16:9. The latter being used as standard for most video, you tube for example.

First thoughts are to set the Project Properties to use AVI, no compression, user define the frame size, try 720 x 720, unless you require a higher rate, 1280 x 1280?

Then you need to add your files to the timeline, they will also have to be square.

Render the project to same as project properties should give you a square video, Uncompressed AVI is very large (65Gb per hour)

Otherwise render the project to WMV, but you will have to create your own WMV profile using Windows Media Profile Editor, import that to Video Studio

As I said I have never done this so don’t know how it will turn out.

Are you sure they require a square video?

Yes, Instragram is all square - unless I have a normal 16x9 on a black background ... but that would be a tiny low res image, which is not what I want. Uncompressed is ok because these are 15 second max!
