Got a response from Corel on their Paintshop Pro Facebook site- they said they will look into it. Windows Vista is still listed as a supported OS so we'll see.

I'm having the same issue. I had no problems until this evening *my time* I live in Australia. It's really frustrating and would love to know why this issue has suddenly occurred.

Re: Effects > Effect Browser No Longer Opens
Well, it does appear to be a Vista specific issue. And wasn't there a Microsoft patch/update to Vista just recently? My bet is that Microsoft changed a service that Corel was using in some way. It could be that Corel was improperly using the service and Microsoft fixed a bug that Corel was unknowingly relying on, or that Corel was properly using the service and Microsoft just introduced a bug to it with the update. I'm in favor of the former, otherwise Microsoft would be sure to be deluged with complaints if they broke a needed service. But it really could be either. Either way, I wonder how long until Corel issues a patch for Vista users.

So after a response like
how long does it normally take before an updated status or fix is offered?Alex Brazeau wrote:Thanks, Larry (and all). We'll take a look into this. Much appreciated.

Re: Effects > Effect Browser No Longer Opens
I just noticed today that the Effect Browser is now working again. I must assume that the latest MS update / patch restored some functionality necessary for this. Anyone else on Vista able to confirm?

Re: Effects > Effect Browser No Longer Opens
After seeing your post, I checked my Effects Browser, and it is working again too. Strange. Certainly no fix from Corel, but as you mentioned the latest Microsoft patch may have corrected the issue.
