blank icons
I have recently upgraded from Prox4 to prox8. It seems to work perfectly well, but all my projects now have a blank page instead of an icon and I can’t open them up without opening prox8 first. What is wrong?

Re: blank icons
Sorry but what are you expecting to open when you double click on a vsp file? I have almost never done that in all the years I have been using VS since version 7 and that's 7 not X7 (17). I would always open X8 (or whatever other versions you have) before opening the vsp file....

Re: blank icons
Could you explain "a blank page" - where is the blank page and which icons are you referring to.
I "think" you mean in Windows explorer and the fact that you cannot open the clips without opening VideoStudio suggests that your computer has not reset the default programmes for the clips to be X8
Go to Windows Control Panel >> Programmes >> Default programs >> Set your default programs" and make VideoStudio X8 the default for the icon types which are not showing correctly

Re: blank icons
I've just tried this, VSprox8 doesn't appear in the programs window!

Re: blank icons
Rather sounds as though X8 has not installed correctly - have you tried uninstalling and then re-installing ?

Re: blank icons
Can we assume you have clicked the Browse button and still can't find it? Windows usually offers a limited range of programs when that default program page opens, but often misses the one you are after -- hence the Browse button.VSprox8 doesn't appear in the programs window!
Can you actually open X8 and then open the project?

Re: blank icons
Yes, I can, but it gives me blank icons for all VS projects. They open from VS, but not without VS being open already. It's not really that much of a problem, but I thought that they must have some sort of icon, and if that is missing, what else is missing?

Re: blank icons
Hi
I think the association for the program has somehow been corrupt, probably if you uninstalled X4, this is an operating system problem, I don’t think anything else will be missing from the program.
Did you follow Brian’s and Kens earlier suggestion to set the Default Programs.?
Try right click the VSP icon, Properties – Open with - - Change
If Video Studio does not show, Browse for :-
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\ -- vstudio.exe (64bit program)
Or this folder for 32 bit C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel
If setting the files association to open with VS then you should try a re-install of the program.
How many versions of Video Studio do you have installed?
