Making an object or marker bloom

Post by Davidk »

Every so often in one of my projects, I'd like to make an object in the view (an arrow, marker of some sort or even a picture in picture) bloom or pulse, small to larger cyclically, as a "look here" tag in a photo or a map. But I've never been able to find an effect that would do that, at all let alone satisfactorily.

Anyone have some ideas on how to do that?

Hi David

Try using Pan and Zoom, well no pan but zoom in and out would cause a pulse.

Have a look at the attached project, was made using X7.

Panasonic X900m, VXF1

Hi Guys,

Thanks for that. I've tried both of those. Look good. Asik's approach requires repeats of punch and pinch to get a pulse going, but with enough of them it's similar to Trevor's. The essential element in Trevors method I think is the use of keyframes and cycling zoom ratios with them in the customise filter box. As many as are needed to get the pulse going obviously.

I've added both of those to my handy 'samples, for use when needed' folder.
