Corel VideoStudio X7 Import .AVI ?
I'm looking for a solution. I have videos that are in an .avi format. Is there a way to import them without having to convert them to a .mov?

AVI and MOV are, in essence, the same thing.
They are both containers, AVI is the windows version, MOV the Apple.
Inside the container you can find hundreds of different file types, some will work with VS others not. Some need the right codec installing to get them to work.
You could use a codec identifier such as Gspot or avicodec to find out what the codec is and then install it.
If that doesn't work, then conversion would be needed, but I would look at converting to something that should work fine with VS, such as wmv.
Maybe tell us where the videos came from, if you are unsure of the codec used, we might be able to ascertain the info required.

How are you trying to "import" the avi files - you should just be able to right click over the timeline and choose "insert video" then browse to the avi files and select them
is that not working for you ?

Re: Corel VideoStudio X7 Import .AVI ?
I found the problem and it's working now.
It was the settings within the software I was using.
Cam Studio ("Screen Capture) was not set to Microsoft Video 1 capture codec.
Now it works 100%
Thank you
ps: I'd use the screen capture provided by Corel; but in play back the 1st couple of seconds are pix-elated in grey and then it balances out nicely, not sure why?
