Corel VideoStudio X8 Black Screen
Whenever I record a game the screen appears to be black and I can't find a solution. How do I fix this?

Very little information in your post to offer any suggestions.
Are you trying to record a game you are playing on your computer or from an external gaming platform such as Xbox?

...and please right click on one of the clips in the X8 timeline and copy ALL its Properties here. Then at least we might have some idea of what format we are talking about. Can you also tell us whether you have purchased X8 or are using the trial version?

I guess with the lack of response users just don't know.
Can you provide a video sample uploaded to maybe Windows One Drive, Google, or Dropbox, then we can try on our pc's.
It may be that you need to convert the video to a more editable format? or tweak your capture settings?

I have only tried it with Star Stable Online and I'm recording on a Windows 7 PC.

You should read all of a post and answer all the questions. Otherwise we are just wasting time if we have to continuously ask you to respond to questions.
Can you describe exactly what you are doing? Does the capture work when you just simply capture from the screen, can be just navigating through the folders,etc.

The screen capture works with everything; recording bits on youtube, netflix, folders, drawing etc. Star Stable is the only thing I've had a problem with. It plays in full screen, unable to play it windowed so that possibly has something to do with it.

Thanks for the update, I doubt that it’s a Video Studio problem, there will be no settings to tweak to correct this.
Some thoughts….
It may be the Star Stable site that’s disabled recordings, that is a possibility.
Are you able to use another pc to test capture.
Have you changed your Screen resolution via the desktop – personalise – Display setting a higher magnification 125% --150%

Do a google search, you will find a lot of info regarding black screen when trying to screen capture that site?
