Project Video Glicthes or Lags. Need Help?
Hey everyone,
I am using VS X8. It was working fine and happy with it, but few days back whenever I play a video in VS in project mode the video starts glitches or lags (whatever that is called) and could not find any solutions to fix it. Need help please?

Re: Project Video Glicthes or Lags. Need Help?
Hi
Welcome to the forums
First …..
If you are working with High Definition video you may need to enable Smart Proxy.
Go to Settings – Smart Proxy Manager – enable
Adding a HD video to the timeline will render / create a proxy file, the process does take a while to render, view Proxy Manager Queue and File manager for progress.
Once created a small icon can be seen on the thumbnail.
This should improve project playback and editing.
By the way your image looks out of proportion, stretched horizontally, just a little.?

Did that too, enabling the smart proxy manager too and waited a bit. The video is 1920x1080 made by Samsung S3. It was working fine. Made videos before with it and edited those videos without any glitch but recently it starts happening. The reason of picture being out of proportion is because the size requirement of photo to be attached is max 950x800.

Re: Project Video Glicthes or Lags. Need Help?
In X8 Preferences > General, have you ticked the box beside "Show message when inserting first video clip"? If you did, then when you inserted your first S3 mp4 you should have received a message asking if you want the Project Properties to match those of the clip. If you OK that, then the frame format and all other Properties when you play in Project mode should be the same as the original clip...

Can you confirm that you first created a New Project before inserting the first clip? I ask since I too have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and its mp4 videos work just fine in my own X8 setup without any other tweaking.

Re: Project Video Glicthes or Lags. Need Help?
Hello Fuzzy56.
Just was wondering if it is happening only in the project window or also when you play back output files in the external player (like Windows Media Player or VLC)? Cause I am experiencing something very similar, but only in the output files. Also, these glitches happen exactly in the frames where transitions / effects end and I use Smart Render.
Maybe you tweaked hardware acceleration settings? VS uses your graphic card / processor to try to accelerate coding/decoding. So maybe you switched it off accidentally?
Regards,
Pavel

Re: Project Video Glicthes or Lags. Need Help?
Sorry, I have no solutions, just exactly the same problem.
Playback in clip mode is perfect but if I mute the sound, the picture becomes jumpy and distorted as above - even just putting volume down from 100 to 99.
In project mode it is always jumpy and distorted. These characteristics are totally repeatable whatever setup settings I change to. The distortion carries though to the final file creation too.
However, I've tried three sources of video footage with differing results:
Video footage from Sony camera 1280 x 720 29f/s 24kHz Audio......Perfect playback
Video footage from Re-Play Prime X camera 1920 x 1080 50f/s 48kHz Audio......Distorted playback
Video footage from Go-Pro camera 1920 x 1080 47f/s 48kHz Audio......Distorted playback
Hoping someone might spot some clues in the above??

Re: Project Video Glicthes or Lags. Need Help?
How did you get the GoPro (which model?) to give you 47 fps? My Hero 3 Black gives me either 24 fps. 25 fps (PAL) or 50 Fps (i or p) with NTSC equivalents...

Re: Project Video Glicthes or Lags. Need Help?
The GoPro footage was taken by a friend with his camera, don't know what model or setting, I just took details from properties of the clip....which stated 47fps.
I was trying to test different sources for this problem and find a common factor.
