How to Sync Edited Soundtrack With Trimmed Video

I have a video with a noisy soundtrack. I have extracted the audio and edited it and placed it on the speech track. I have muted the native audio track so as to just hear the edited audio. The problem is when I trim the beginning and end of the video the edited sound track goes out of sync. Is there a way to keep it in sync while trimming the video? Or is there a way to replace the native audio with the edited audio?

It sounds as though you exported the audio and worked on it before you edited the video - now every time you cut bits off the video the visuals are shorter than the audio - so you need to cut the same lengths out of the audio - not easy

I would have edited the video complete with it's audio first and when all editing was complete I would export the sound for the whole project - adjusted the audio problems and then put it back into the audio track - muting all the original audio - since both are the same length it should be easy to resync

Thanks for your reply Brian, that makes sense. I will try that. Is there a way to export the trimmed audio from within Corel VideoStudio? That would make things easier. Otherwise I will have to export the trimmed video file and extract the trimmed audio from the exported Video using Audacity.
