Hi All,
So, I didn't install Photoshop this time and want to make the switch to paint shop pro X7.
I've spent the last hour searching google, this forum, youtube, etc. and can't find a simple answer to what should be a simple question.
How do you stroke/outline a rectangle box that I drew around some information I want to highlight for someone?
In Photoshop, I simply drew the box, using selection tool, then EDIT --> Stroke --> Selected color and thickness and done.
I've gone to SELECTIONS -> MODIFY -> Select Selection Border, but nothing happens in the end.
Thanks for any help.

There's a couple ways you can do that and you were almost there. Use the rectangular selection tool and then Selections -> Modify -> Select Selections Border. Next set the border width for your box. Next choose a color for your border by using the Foreground Stroke Swatch on the Materials Palette. Next click on the Flood Fill tool and fill the border with color.
Another way would be to use the Rectangle tool (below the Text Tool). Set the color you want in the Foreground Stroke Swatch and click on the Transparency button on the Background and Fill Swatch on the Materials palette. You can adjust the width of the stroke on the Tools Option Palette.
The colors I used are arbitrary so you can use any color you wish.

Re: Just Switched from PS: How to Stroke Selection Tool Box
Hi Kathy,
Good advice for the OP, but if I might make a suggestion that might add a bit of clarity? When you say to use the Rectangle tool below the Text tool, 2 things came to my mind. The first is that mouseovering on the tool you're suggesting won't necessarily say it's the rectangle tool, depending on which of the 4 options in that flyout has been selected. I believe the default is Preset Shapes. Also, whether or not the Preset Shapes is under the Text tool on that toolbar depends on whether or not you have customized the toolbar. In my toolbar it IS under the text tool, but not immediately under it because I have a couple of intervening tools before the Preset Shapes tool. Just a thought.
