Hello,
I'm new to this forum but have big issues with cutting *.mov files from my Nikon Cam in Corel Video.
I'm going to cut a Video for my best friend's wedding and have different formats: .mov from the Nikon and .mpeg4 from a Canon 2nd cam (for cut ins from the side and outtakes)
I imported the complete files in the Studio and when I view them in the programm it just laggs the hell. Cant even scroll to a specified point to edit it correctly.
The MPEG4 Files doesn't make any problems!
When I export the files they can be viewed without problems. So the problem occurs only during monitoring and editing inside the programm.
One thing that confuses me: when I look at the file details in VideoStudio the .MOV is identified as "photo" whereas the .MPEG4 is known as "Video" !
Does Corel has any known problems with .MOV files?
Maybe anyone else have those problems? Can somebody help? Need more Infos?
MOV:
1920 x 1080
25fps
24bit
mpeg4:
1280 x 720
25fps
24bit

MOV is a wrapper and can contain many hundreds of different file types, added to this that it is an Apple format and you are using a Windows pc, there can be lots of problems.
I'm guessing that it is a format that VS doesn't really like, so if you can export it without problems, if you export and then reimport, can you then edit without a problem? If so you can do that, a little extra step but at least you have no problems.
The other thing to do is, turn smart proxy on or off, depending oi whether it is on or off at the moment and try again.

Hi
I would think Smart Proxy would help for the Mov video files.
Go to settings – Smart Proxy Manager – Enable Smart Proxy
New clips added to the timeline will have proxy files created, for existing clips right click and choose Create proxy Files.
Use Shift + click to select all clips.
Smart proxy does take a while to render those files, once done a small icon will show on the clip.
Project playback should improve, although clip playback may still be poor, that depends on your video types?
Mov video can use a video codec called “Photo Jpeg” that is not a still image but a video format, high quality, relatively large file sizes
And yes there have been problems with Mov types but that reflects on the number of different types, as Graham said there are hundreds with camera manufacturers bring out others forces the video editors to play catchup.

Hi
Indeed there are three versions, Photo-Jpeg, Motion Jpeg A and Motion JPEG B.
The point being that the video properties may show as Photo-JPEG and some confusion could be made to still images?
