Installation problem with AfterShot Pro 2.2.0.29

Post by frisbee »

I just installed the update AfterShot Pro 2.2.0.29.

On my desktop (Windows 8.1, 64 bit), everything went fine, program working perfectly.
On my Dell laptop (Windows 8.1, 64 bit), the program completed installation, but when I run it, it locks at the splash screen with the message "AfterShot Pro has stopped working."
On my Dell tablet (Windows 8.1, 32 bit), I have the same problem. Locks at the splash screen with message "AfterShot Pro has stopped working."

On the laptop and tablet, I returned to AfterShot Pro 2.1.12.10, which runs fine.

I assume this is a bug, that will be corrected in the next release.
Any information?

The installation went fine. So no log file.
But the program gives an error message when starting.
Just curious if anyone else had this problem.
Thanks.

How's this?
I navigated to C:\Users\Ron\AppData\Local\Corel\AfterShot Pro where AfterShotPro.log is located.
File attached.

Right file, but unfortunately nothing really exciting.
Two things you could try:

Rename "C:/Users/Ron/AppData/Local/Corel/AfterShot Pro" and then start and see whether it helps.

And disable OpenCL (no idea (and too far from the windows box to check) where you can hack that on Windows, probably in the registry somewhere under "\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\AfterShot Pro v2") and see whether that changes anything.

I am experiencing a similar problem with my 64-bit Dell desktop. In my most recent contact with Corel, the tech indicated that:
1. It is a known issue
2. my case seems to be related to the graphics adapter, the Intel HD Graphics 4400
3. the tech did not succeed in downloading a corrected adapter driver from Intel and instructed me to check with Dell. When I did, the "latest" driver was, according to Windows 10, an earlier driver than the one that was installed, and I did not download it at that time.
4. the tech then referred my case to "the engineers," without any estimate for an ETA.
Has anyone else succeeded in running Aftershot Pro with the HD Graphics 4400 adapter? Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Hi dstrong, Do you have a case number I can reference when I flag this with the dev team? Thanks.

Did you ever get this resolved?
I had AfterShot 2 Pro 64 bit working on my Asus ZenBook with Win10 64bit but with several plugins only available as 32bit, I thought I would install that version instead. Total Fail. It installs but as soon as I try to run it, I get the fail message too.
In my case the GPU is the Intel HD Graphics 5300. Do I have to go back to 64 bit?
The driver is 20.19.15.4331 dated 2015-11-18

False alarm here. Turns out that there must have been some registry values interfering with the 32 bit install, even after deleting the 64 bit version. After a CCLean session, the 32 bit version installed and runs.
