Putting a solid colour background behind text

Post by Prime Number »

Hi All,

Total noob question here but how, if at all, can I put a solid colour background behind text in PSP X7?

I can see how to change the colour properties on the text itself but can't find anything on putting that text on a coloured background.

Thanks in advance.

Can you be a bit more specific about what you are trying to achieve? For example, I assume you're starting with an image like a photo or graphic and laying down text on that image. Do you want something like a square/rectangular/circular colored box behind the text so that, when completed, you have your image with a colored box covering part of the image and the text in that box? Or are you starting with a blank image that you want to have a certain color and you want to place text on that? Or are you trying to achieve something completely different from what I've mentioned? I'm not quite sure what you're trying to achieve.

As JoeB says, if you want for example a colored rectangle behind the text, you need to create a colored rectangle on a new layer under (behind) the text.

As usual providing a sample or a link to what you are after will save so many questions and get you an answer faster.
Is one of these what you are after:
Image
The first (top) is a normal text
Second Text with outline
Third Text with Outline and PaintBrush with Blend Mode > Paint Behind
Fourth Texy on a separate colored background . cropped, copied and pasted as new layer and moved to location.
Or is it something else?

@hartpaul I registered for this forum just so I could say Thank You! for your answer even though the OP never replied. I had a really hard time finding google results that fit the effect I was looking for. Paint Behind is exactly what I needed.
