Starting X6 in Edit screen

Post by Stumann »

I just download PSP X6 and I would like to have it start in the Edit tab instead of the Manage tab. Is that possible? I also would prefer that the whole workspace color were white, but the only choices are light or dark grey. It's not a big deal, but it's what I'm used t from previous versions.

File>Preferences>General Program Preferences>Default Launch Workspace and select the Manage radio button.

I don't think you can choose white, and that's for a reason. From a perception point of view, it's best to view your photos within a medium grey workspace because that tends to show colors in a more natural manner (or as natural as you can get given that you're viewing on a monitor with emissive light rather than the reflective light you see in the real world :-) ). A white workspace around the image will make the colors look less vibrant or saturated, and a black workspace will make them look more vibrant or saturated to the eye.

Thanks, Joe B. Sometimes thing are so simple you can't see them....

I know what you are saying is true about the background color, it's just that I've been doing this so long with a white background, that it may take me while to re-learn. I guess I should try it, it will probably be better in the long term.

As well looking at a bright white screen in a darkened environment can be more stressful on the eyes and make you sleepy. (How many people fall asleep looking at a bright TV in a darkened room??)
