Tutorials for PSP focus stacking?

Post by GlenBarrington »

Does anyone know of any tutorials on how to go about focus stacking in PSP? I'm currently using X6, but would consider upgrading if necessary. this is a technique I'd like to explore without having to buy Photoshop.

Probably the best description would be the "Cambridge In Colour" tutorial: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutori ... acking.htm

Photoshop does this with two functions that I'd like to see in PSP,
* Auto-align of layers (useful for a variety of functionality, not just focus stacking)
* Focus blend which automates the selection and merging of the stacked images

Not sure I would bother trying to do it in PSP. As pointed out. Try one of the free programs such as CombineZP.

I believe the French term is "zedification". The Wikipedia explanation is straight forward.

and, of course, the French translation

I know it's not the same as Focus Stacking, but I've gotten some interesting results in PSP's HDR Exposure Merge.

Someone published their steps to do Focus Stacking in PSP here awhile back- it was a tremendously long, laborious process- all manual, and nowhere as easy (if it is) as in Photoshop. Anyway, I didn't save the link as there was just no way I was going to put that much work into it in PSP.

A search for focus stacking in this forum shows messages until 2010 about this subject but no tutorial on how to do it in PSP. Perhaps in another forum?
Why don't you try CombineZ ?
