PSP text problems
I just upgraded from X2 after many years - I knew that version very well. Now, I am having trouble adding simple text! Am I doing something wrong? Very frustrated - seems like they are TRYING to make things harder!!! Is there a setting for a preference I'm missing where you can simply click on the image and add the text you want where you want it?

Re: PSP text problems
Can you offer more details? Like step by step, what you're doing, what you're seeing or not seeing. That sort of thing.
X3 introduced On Canvas text editing. So the texti box doesn't pop up anymore. If you want the text box you need to hold "SHIFT" when you click on the canvas with the text tool.
But other than that I'm not sure what would be so different between the two that you should be struggling so much.

Re: PSP text problems
So I position the curser where I want the text, the default text box that appears huge and off the page and out of sight. I drag it to the size that seems reasonable and it distorts the text. I would like to mix fonts and their sizes and have control of the spaces between lines.
For instance, Cambria Math 22 - GIANT curser, hit enter for a new line, and there is way too much space between line one and line two. Next line I want to use Comic Sans 16, I can change the text to that size no problem and continue there. I tried to position the curser after the last letter of the first line, change the size to 2 so when I hit enter I can control the spacing. I read something about changing the "leading" is no change, and it's set to 0.
I tried to add a second text box so I can position both boxes to adjust the space between the lines but I end up right back to the original text box. I am not a photo editing expert but I have had a lot of experience with X2 for years and there was not much I couldn't do or figure out and rarely had a problem. This just seems like much more difficult than it needs to be.
Does any of this make sense to you? I really could use some help, I feel like I might have to ask for a refund and go back to X2, I probably don't understand the concept of on canvas text editing.

Re: PSP text problems
When I do text on a page I first get the text there at a smaller size first then I start to rearrange change things a bit.
The cursor is large because you have not changed the text size at the start before clicking on the canvas.
I presume you have the text tool options visible where you can choose the font and set the size on one side and the Kerning Leadin etc on the rigjht hand side of the strip
I also presume that you have a reasonable size canvas say 1000 x 1000 ( I hope you are not trying to put text on a 10 x 10 pixel image scaled up to 1000 X)
1. Select your font, set your size to say 30 pixels, select Left Justified , click approximately where you want your text to start. Type in your text.
2. All your text should be visible (presuming you are not doiung a 1000 word sentence --- see all this presumption because you have not really given us much information on exactly what you are doing.
3. Now once your text is there , you can drag select the whole (or do Control A) or part and then change its size or even the font again for just those selecte parts, add a colored border to the text , change the color change the kerning etc of the whole or part.
4. Once to your satisfaction you can then click the Apply Tick an you will have a bounding box around your text so you can move it around on your canvas, rotate it, scale it up or down. When finished you can change to another tool to work some other effects.
5. If you want to add more text, but keep it independent of the previous text then make your original base image active again and click the text button - this will create another vextor layer where you can repeat the previous actions to create more text and text effects and still have it separate from the first lot of text.
6. You can even go back to the first lot of tex and reedit that so long as you have not converted it to a raster layer nor merged it.
In effect it is just like usin wordpad and same rules apply, select part or a couple of words or letters and change their color, size , font etc.

Re: PSP text problems
Thank you both Levi and Paul. No. 5 in Paul's response got me to where I needed to be. I am very grateful to you both for your help!
To Corel - I don't see how this is progress. For the life of me, I don't know why I had to create 5 layers to get 5 lines of text that I could do on the original layer in X2!
To be fair, it me still be me but it was never this hard before.
Not sure if I should start a new thread but I don't see any discussion about saving an edited .pdf as another .pdf - is that possible in X6? Hope everyone enjoys the weekend.
