"unexpected error 5:0:0" in Pro X4 when sharing the file

Post by VeganChildfree »

I have been using this program (previously Ulead Video Studio) for nearly ten years and I am familiar with the interface. Recently I have upgraded my UVS11 to Pro X4 and did a lot of editing - without a problem. Now I have been trying to put my videos on a standard DVD and cannot get through the rendering process.

My DVD burner doesn't work so I am trying to create an .iso file to burn it elsewhere. I have three videos which I have shot myself, edited in Pro X4 and saved as separate MPEG2 files (variable bitrate up to 8000kbps, 720x480 widescreen resolution, PAL-DVD). These MPEGs can be played in other applications, meaning they are not damaged. Now I would like to put them on a DVD that can be played in a stand-alone player (I have done this successfully when I used the older UVS10 and UVS11). I create the menu and chapters, choose the video settings and let it create an .iso file. It goes until 51% of the total progress (99% of creating the menu) and then I get the error 5:0:0.

This has happened to me at least ten times already. I tried updating DirectX, running CCleaner, restarting the laptop, I removed all the peripherals and switched off the Wi-Fi - no difference! Feeling defeated I have installed my old UVS10 and wanted to use it to make the compilation but I cannot get past the first stage of creating the DVD. There is no "next" button of any sort. I can only choose my files and create chapters, and I am stuck there. I guess maybe the UVS doesn't like my Windows 7. I do not recall anything like that happening before and I am not a newbie to this software.

I have run out of ideas what to do :(

HELP!

Update:
Since I needed this DVD to be ready for tomorrow and I have read in another post on here that the problem seems to be with the chapters, I removed the chapters and now I have a single menu with my three files. I was finally able to complete the rendering process and I do have the .iso file now, but it has not solved the actual problem which is the recurring "unspecified error 5:0:0" when the files are being divided into chapters. Is this a "normal" thing or should I reinstall the VS, or do something else?

The Corel Knowledge Base suggests this error relates to your burner drivers not being up to date and/or not having the very latest version of DirectX. However, some users of versions of VS such as X4 and X5, and earlier, found that updating these drivers did not work. One other thing worth looking at, though, is whether you have in the burning module accepted the default setting for "motion menu". Quite a few people, myself included, found that caused the burning process, whether for an actual disc or ISO, to crash. Unticking that option allowed the burning process to proceed. In other words, it related to the menu, but not the chapters part of it which should still be usable.

Hi

Video Studio 10
The missing Next button I think was reported for Windows Vista, I believe Corel provided a fix in the way of Service Packs.
So have you installed the Service Packs for VS 10

If you press Alt + N should navigate to the next Screen
Alt+B for Back
Alt + C for close
UVS10_Eng.zip
ulead vs 10 service packs

Well, I am not trying to burn anything, just converting the video into DVD-Video-compatible files and saving them on my hard drive - either as .iso or DVD folders. But yes, I may be missing the drivers because I cannot read or write DVDs at all, only CDs - I thought I just have a faulty drive (it makes screeching sounds when a DVD is inside). I will check that out.

I have already updated DirectX.

Not sure if I understand correctly. The problem is supposed to be caused by including the motion menu in the DVD project? I wanted to have the motion menu for the main menu only, not for the sub-menus (chapter menus). When I removed the chapters but kept the motion menu for the main menu, the project rendered correctly. I can try without the motion menus altogether but it is still not what I wanted.

Still, thank you for the advice. I will see if that changes anything.

There are no drivers for the optical drive available or I cannot find them. All I found was LightScribe System Software, so I checked my drive if it has this function at all and what I read there? DVD-ROM! However, I think it would be bizarre that VS cannot render a video if a DVD writer is not present.

In general there are no new drivers for my computer - the current ones are from 2009.

I cannot believe that a Core 2 Duo computer only has a CD writer. Those went out with the software Dodo well before Core 2 Duos were even thought of. And I realise that you were not trying to burn an actual disc, only an ISO, but the software side of things is much the same for both. But if your computer itself cannot see a DVD drive, that could explain the problem... But if you want to convert the ISO to an actual disc, what do you use? Does VS 10 see it as a DVD drive or a CD drive?

I only suggested the motion menu as a possible answer to the original question, not knowing that you still had it ticked when your deleted chapters and it worked. It was only a thought.

I am equally surprised but I bought this laptop second hand and it came with that. Obviously someone has swapped the drive before the sale. I thought it was broken and was intending to exchange it but since I rarely need to burn DVDs, it was not a priority for me. I normally burn the .iso files from my boyfriend's computer.

VS X4 Pro sees the optical drive as: MATSHITA UJDA775 DVD/CDRW 1.0

I now tried to render the project in X4 Pro without the motion menu but with the chapters and got the error 5:0:0 again. So this is what has been happening so far:
1. Project with chapters and with a motion menu - error 5:0:0
2. Project without chapters and with a motion menu - successfully completed
3. Project with chapters and without a motion menu - error 5:0:0

Going to patch my UVS10 now and see if I can do the chapters there.

Hi

There are a few downloads on that PDF file, you should certainly install the Vista patch, that should help with functionality with Windows 7

post updated:-

Also install Service Pack 1

If I remember correctly the Motion Menu error seemed to be associated with audio files, cannot recall if adding or removing the Audio + Motion Menu caused the problem. It was quite a while ago?
