Capture Audio as AC-3 in MF4 Disc Creator
I have MF3 Disc Creator and only have the option of caturing audio in LPCM or MPEG. Will the new version MovieFactory 4 Disc Creator allow me to select Dolby Digital 2.0 (AC-3) as the audio cature format?

Yes, MF4 can capture dolby 2/0 in the standard version or the
Disc Creator version.
You have MF3 Disc Creator (that has Dolby Audio).
MovieFactory3 captures Mpeg audio as you know.
After you capture in MF3 with mpeg audio if you click on the "GEAR"
icon and check ON "Do not consider Mpeg audio as Dvd compliant" then
in the dvd creation process if your video has mpeg audio then MF3 will
convert the audio to the "Project Properties".
So if you have the "Project Properties" set to Dolby then the audio
will be converted from mpeg to dolby.
(Note: If your Project Properties are set to Mpeg audio and you have
that option checked on then a splash screen will pop-up saying there
is a conflict). You can ignore that if you want to keep the mpeg audio.
So by having "Do Not Convert DVD Compliant Files" checked ON.
AND "Do not consider Mpeg audio as Dvd compliant" then a
compliant dvd file with mpeg audio will have the audio changed
from mpeg to dolby and the video will NOT be re-encoded.
(provided the video attributes are dvd compliant).
Video Re-encoding takes time but re-encoding the audio from mpeg to
dolby doesn't take that long.
Hope this helps,

I have a Hauppauge PVR 150 device. It only captures in MPEG audio even if I select DVD-HQ (Dolby Digital) or with LPCM audio in the capture format list.
I guess the AC3 audio capture is limited to the type of device you are using
I think if you capture DV cam via firewire and set the capture format with AC3 you might be able to save the audio in that format since it will transcode the AVI to mpeg after capturing.....

Ploggy,
When you capture are you using the PVR capture driver plugin
or the ulead mpeg capture plugin.
I thought those units have to use their own plugin software.
I'm using an analog pci capture card ATI AIW pro and an
ATI AIW agp 9600 XT.
Both capture dolby using the ulead mpeg capture plug-in.

Maddrummer3301,
Im using the Hauppauge Plugin in DMF4. It wont capture in AC3 audio. If I used DSW MPEG Plugin, it wont detect the device. As for your capturing device, it works well with DSW MPEG Plugin because is uses WDM drivers which most, if not all Ulead software supports.
I guess the key to capture in AC3 audio is using the built in Ulead DWS MPEG plugin.

When I do capture in analog mode most of the time it's using the
ATI Recording module. The ATI software uses it's own code to access
the hardware compression features and other chipset features on the card.
The recordings are pcm or mpeg audio.
Then I import the video(s) into MovieFactory 3/4.
MF 3/4 converts them quickly to Dolby with no problems.
I just have to have "Consider mpeg audio as non-dvd compliant"
checked off.
I prefer mpeg audio versus dolby if editing needs to be done.
