Hi everyone,
I recently downloaded the trial version for X8 Pro because I want to test it out before I buy it. I wanted to test out the hardware acceleration to see how fast it went on my system, but those options are grayed out in the Settings > Preferences > Performance menu. Is this just because I'm using the trial version, or is there something wrong with my computer or the installation?

Unfortunately, Corel changed long standing policy with the trial version of X8. We used to be to say that the trial version was a fully working version in all respects, apart from its 30 day lifetime. But this time round Corel dropped many things out of the trial version, principally -- but I suspect not only -- because of licensing concerns. A lot of pretty basic things are not there. We think it's a silly decision but didn't have any say in the matter.
Unfortunately, Corel changed long standing policy with the trial version of X8. I ran some tests using the trial but must admit cannot remember if accelerations were available. I suspect they were as being disabled would have rung alarm bells.
Even so the limitations of editing HD MTS, unable to convert to those formats will affect your tests?
You may be best complaining to Corel via their Facebook account, more complaints may make them update the trial.
Certainly if I had to rely on the trial to test my AVCHD MTS files it would be difficult to decide on purchase. Fortunately the full version does work ok.
Whether acceleration works for you depends on your system and type of graphics card you have installed, I assume you do have a separate graphics card.
Update your user control panel profile to include your pc specifications?
