Re: Twitches in finished Bluray
Thanks Trevor. I'm happy to try that, though I'm not sure how to do the conversion. Format Factory doesn't offer .m2t as an output, just mp4. Will that do it? It looks like it's going to be a very long job: it's been running for a few minutes now & it's just made 3%!
If I reformat my stick to NTFS will it let me copy the file? I've just looked & it offers me FAT32 or exFAT, whatever that is - no NTFS.
I'm still confused by all these different options, not helped by me looking at Project Properties again. They bear no relation to anything HD nor the final output, being 1024x576 & .avi files.
Sorry to be so dumb.

Re: Twitches in finished Bluray
The mp4 copy seems to be good, but I haven't tried burning another BD with it. I was surprised to find I can't copy the 7.7GB .m2t file from my laptop (Win10) on to my 250GB portable drive either. There's bags of room on it. All I've been able to do is move the file via the Bluray data disc. If I could get it on the 250GB, I could plug it in the TV. The mp4 version won't copy from the desktop on to the stick either, so I can't try that via the laptop unless I burn another BD! (I've found it too difficult to get my XP desktop talking directly to my Win10 laptop. Anyway the file is still probably too big to shift that way too.)
The video files have got so big, they've become unmanageable.

Re: Twitches in finished Bluray
Hi
The problem is using X5, that version does not give the option to set HD project properties.
I would set the properties to standard DVD settings, Mpeg2 these could be used to burn a standard DVD.
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-PAL), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
For Bluray
When I refer to rendering / converting I was talking about rendering the project using Video Studio
If you use Share Create Video File “AVCHD (1280x720 50P)” then the new file would be suitable to burn to BD disc
The second option being Share Create Video File - AVCHD (1920x1080) would use Upper Field First, again suitable to burn a disc.
Corel Video Studio X5 is quite old and does not provide all HD functions that the newer versions do. So we cannot set HD as project properties. Although rendering does have Bluray / AVCHD options, as above.
M2t video size, I assume your video is approx. 60 minutes given that its 7.7 Gb

Very impressed, Trevor. My project is 1hr 00mins 10 secs!
Please can you explain to me why I can't copy that 7.7GB file to any USB memory devices?

Hi John
If the USB is formatted to use Fat 32 then there is a 4 gb file limit
You have to format the usb stick to NTFS, this will delete all files on the USB memory.
Go to Computer – the USB stick will show as a removable drive, make sure you select the correct drive.
Right click and Choose Format.
In the Format Removable Disc panel choose the File System as NTFS
Then hit Start
Make sure you are indeed formatting the USB stick and not one of your PC drives.

The 250 GB USB hard drive is also likely to be formatted to FAT32, and thus also stuck with the 4GB file limit. These external hard drives are often produced to work with both PCs and Apple/Macs, and the latter can only "see" FAT32 formatted discs.

I have not come across any hard drive that is in Fat32 format. My oldest external hard drive is over 6 years old (only 80GB) and even that was formatted to NTSC

Re: Twitches in finished Bluray
My Verbatim 250GB portable drive is FAT32 formatted. I've only had it for a few months. I'm not sure I want to reformat it as I have lots of data already stored on it.
I've reformatted my 32GB stick as NTFS, though I had to use the laptop. XP didn't offer NTFS as an option. I'm now copying the .m2t file to it - though it looks like it's going to take an hour or three!! If I start to render Brazil into the new format HD at the same time, the poor old desktop is going to be on it's knees...

Re: Twitches in finished Bluray
FYI - when I plugged the 32GB stick into the TV it didn't recognise the .m2t file! I'm not sure I'll bother to turn it into something the TV recognises now that I successfully produced Bluray discs of both Kenya & Brazil with lovely smooth pictures.
Still I've learned a lot...
Thanks all.

Hi John
Re-Name the files on the USB stick to use .mpg instead of m2t
If your Bluray player has USB try that for m2t files.
