Lost PSPx7

Post by brucet »

I had/have an issue that someone may have an answer to.
I went to edit a photo on my laptop using PSPx7. I double clicked a file in a folder and instead of x7 opening x6 opened. (I leave my old versions on the computer). No worries as sometime it does happen for what ever reason. Thing is that my x6 was missing the Topaz DeNoise plugin that I always use. So now I have no x7 and no DeNoise.
Hmmmmm.
So I went to reinstall x7 but it was missing. Downloaded file gone. Why? How?
Anyway I downloaded x7 and done a full install.
I downloaded Topaz again and installed DeNoise plugin.
All was well again. I opened x7, loaded a file and everything worked. Although I had to rebuild my custom workspace.
Now here's where is gets 'strange". I opened the DeNoise plugin and my custom settings were still there.

So even though x7 and DeNoise went walkabout the presets were still available. OK so Topaz puts them somewhere safe.

But any clues on how I cloud loose both x7 and DeNoise. Files and all? Every things back to 'normal' but I'm curious to know what may have happened.

Are you sure that you actually lost X7? Is it possible that your file associations somehow got changed to X6 and that X7 was actually still installed on your system? Just a thought.

So the shortcut icons disappeared from your desktop and the program files disappeared from your (86) folder and the programs folder. As well the X7 user folders disappeared from your Documents folder?
Not sure but could your computer have done a system restore and would this remopve all those folders?
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

I use CCleaner. The day before I downloaded an update and ran it. I suspect it had something to do with it.
What ever happened icon, folders all disappeared.

All trace of x7 went. Along with Topaz Denoise. Other Topaz plugins worked ok. It's almost as if x7 had an issue and CCleaner deleted it in its clean up.
