Is somebody using dgikam with ASP (linux)? How does it work? Is this worth investing the time and energy to make it work together?

Well, digikam does support the same style XMPs as AS. And it is a real DAM in contrast to AS.
I have not really followed its development. But if you are on Linux, it is the only game in town, the rest is toy stuff.
