choosing a video file for rendering

Post by jaysto »

Hello
Having completed a short Mp4 video, I chose create a video file, then from the list of options I selected the same as project settings
The project settings are,
Pal (25)
Mp files
24 bits720x576.25 frames
(DVD-PAL) 4.3
I would now like to create a video file that colleagues will be able to open on their computers
and also create a video DVD for use on a DVD recorder. I tried Zune Mp4 this took a long time to render and also did not play
on my computer without a further conversion.
Can anyone help
Thank you please

What sort of mp file is it?
Where did it come from?
Are most of the computers up to date, relatively knew, if so, they should have the codec for playing "standard" mp4 files, which I'm guessing yours is.

To make a dvd, you choose the make a dvd option

Which version of Video Studio are you using? Can you also tell us why you chose to make the video in mp4? Was that the original format of the video -- where did it come from?

Hi Ken

I believe Jack is referring to the same video in this post.

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 45#p305505

He was using X2 (VS 12) but unable to edit, but also has X3 which should / may be able to open the file, so would not need Movie Factory.

Just back from Mallorca and catching up with posts.

Jaysto -- I have now looked at that link posted by lata, and so now recall the problems you were having. But it now appears you are using the original mp4 format rather than the .mov format you had successfully changed it to. Is that so? Or did you successfully convert it to the AVC mp4 I suggested, using Format Factory?

In any case, your original video is likely to have been 16:9 rather than 4:3, so if you are using Same As Project Properties, the final video will come out squished in a bit because the wrong frame format is used. So change the Project Properties to 16:9. The other properties are fine and will produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 which should play on all computers. It will, however, be standard definition so a lot of quality will be lost from the high definition original.

Thank you Ken,
Let me try to explain, as far as I could tell the file was an Mp 4 taken with a high quality still camera with video taking facilities.
Acting on your instructions I converted the file to Mp4 using the factory
, this converted good and played ok using Video studio Pro x2.
having edited the same which went well I chose share Zune Mp4 that did not work the picture was all jumbled up.
I then tried again using Mp2 (720x576) bingo, I was in business the video played well and to all I sent it to but, as you said the quality was much reduced together with the file size file.
I am now in a position to try all the recommend suggestions to achieve a better quality and thank every one for helping me.

Hi Jack
Good morning...

With the project open….

Share Create Video File – Same as First Video Clip-- Is that option available,

If yes that will render the project using the video files properties, probably the best option.

Does that create a good quality video?
