[After ASP 2.2] What is your 3 most needed functions?
For this 2.2 update the development team has had most of their priorities on their CT framework upgrade. Now that this is accomplished, I think it's time to set up a new wishlist for our most needed functions and improvements.
Let's keep this tread clean and only list your 3 most needed requests with a short explanation for each.
If we need more space to elaborate or discuss a function, it would be nice if we could open another post and discuss it there.

1. Gradient selection tool for layers
A gradient selection tool for layers would bring the ASP experience and capacity to the next level, as it will allow you to use all of ASP's tools and plugins in a gradient selection. And you could have as many layers as you want.
2. "Snap to edge" when moving corners or edges in crop mode. If necessary with a toggle button.
When using the crop tool after I have used the straighten tool it's difficult to place the corners of the cropped area inside the edge without getting white corners. Sometimes I need to include some of the off image area in a corner and sometimes I don't.
3. Noise, noise, noise
The noise tool needs constant improvement to it's algorithms. Please continue the improvements...

1) Grad filter implementation. I use this filter very often but seems there won't be any update. An implementation should use he same parameters as the Gradfilter otherwise thousends of images must be updated. This is the main problem with plugins in my opinion. So I thing functions like grad filter, or perspective correction must be part of the main application.
2)
3) A function or tool to calibrate lenses.
2)
This would be my second. Could be used for gradient filter replacement but an updatepath for old images would be helpful.Arnfinn wrote:1. Gradient selection tool for layers

1. Review and publish the survey for most popular plugins.
2. Understand that without the most popular plugins that ASP doesn't work.
3. Incorporate the most popular plugins into the base product.

Re: [After ASP 2.2] What is your 3 most needed functions?
Points 2 and 3 of what bananahead suggests are good points I think.
I defenitely miss
1. Perspective control. Just like the rotation tool something I use(d) very frequently. Not compatible at the moment with 2.2, but should absolutely be part of the basic tools
2. Read and apply lens corrections which information is within the raw files (my Fuji jpg's are corrected - distortion/vignetting etc - but the RAF's ain't)
3. I'm not sure if it's the same thing as other already mentioned, but a gradient tool as such, and even better when this can be applied as a kind of mask on part of the image

I agree 100%Bernd wrote:1) Grad filter implementation. I use this filter very often but seems there won't be any update. Personally, I won't update until GradFilter (my most used plugin) is available for ASP 2.2. I would also consider perspective correction a must.
If you *have* to break parameter compatibility, please allow a working installation of both ASP versions on the same computer. (I still use Bibble when re-visiting my pre-ASP RAW files/edits.)

Re: [After ASP 2.2] What is your 3 most needed functions?
When comparing results of ASP2 V2.2.0.29 with others and original JPEGs of FUJI X-Xx I still see room for improvements in
- noise reduction and highlight recovery
- chromatic aberrations
- lens correction support (database)
and
- speed, speed, speed
- stability

No update performed so far, missing too many plugins.
1. Gradient filter plugin
2. Perspective correction
3. Sharpen/Wavelet Denoise

Re: [After ASP 2.2] What is your 3 most needed functions?
Gradient tool would be good but there is a plugin that does this but it hasnt been updated to support ASP2.2
1. RAW support kept up to date (less than 2 months from new camera availability).
2. Noise reduction improvement.
3. Fix the nasty thumbnails so they have a proper amount of white space between images.

Still learning after all these years!

in case you want work around why not try to make a selection with curve tool as mask (layer) and use a great feathering,i hope you understand what I mean.

Just a quick summary; Many good suggestions and requests to the development team so far. Plugin updates, backwards compatibility, new functions and improvement requests...
Please keep them coming. The Corel dev team is watching your suggestions and making notes...
As a sidenote, I have made a new post for the Grad Filter Plugin and a suggestion for a new grad tool here http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=56543
