Can't Insert DVD+R

Post by vs9trial »

Hello all,

I am new here. I recently installed VideoStudio 9 trial version and when I tried to insert DVD, I got a puppup window saying "Failed to open DVD. report ID 0x800408ff2303." Any idea what's wrong? This is not commercial DVD. It is just my home video recorded on a DVD+R.

Thanks.

:D How did you try to "insert" it? What format is the data in?
Keep us guessing

Does your dvd player support DVD+R discs. Some models will only accept DVD-R. Check your player capabilities.

If this is coming from DVD camcorder, you may need to finalize the disc before the VideoStudio can read it. Check your DVD camcorder for more information on how to do this.

My DVD+R comes from a conversion from Digital8 tape through a DVD Recorder. I did the finalizing and it was playing fine on my PC. I was in the Video Editor Mode. Right click at righ Video window and select "Insert DVD/DVD-VR..." . In the poppup selection window select my DVD drive that has my DVD+R in it. After about four progressing bars, the poppup error appears.

Hi vs9trial

It may be the capabilities of the trial version. I had a lot of trouble with the trial, to such an extent that I nearly didn’t up grade.
I am now using the full version with no problems.
Ulead seem to be a bit poor when it comes to their trial versions, not a good advertisement at all.

Any how if you copy your DVD to your hard drive you can rename the *.vob files in the TS folder.
Change the extension to *.mpg.

You should now be able to insert to timeline using insert video.

Hope this Helps

Hi Trevor,

Thank you for your reply. I searched the forum here and found that I am not the only one who has the problem. Someone post the problem under subject "NEED HELP WITH VS9 !!!!!!" back in May. He was using the full version of VS9. It does not seem he got a solution. I wonder if Ulead had any fix for that.

Thanks.

Can't import DVD

Post by ccblue »

I'm having the same problem with the full version of Video Studio 9. Get the error ""Failed to open DVD. report ID 0x800408ff2303." I still have Video Studio 8 on my PC and will import the files without issue (they are home movies).

Could it be an XP upgrade issue? How do you tell what version of XP you're running?

Read this thread, it may help
MovieFactory 4 and VS9 appear to be similar modules.
Temporary workaround for me has been to share the dvd reader and map
a new drive letter to it.

I had the same problem until I found out the DVD format on the disk was either corrupted or pointed to the wrong sector. I stumbled across DVDfab and used the correct DVD sectors function. This corrected the DVD layout and allowed me to import the DVD.

Another method that came from tech support while going through this
problem was to copy the dvd to the harddisk and then import the
dvd from the harddisk video_ts or dvd-rtav folder.
I do that and importing both -VR disks +VR disks dvd-video disks works.

Hope this helps,
