VS8 SCENE DETECT at Capture

Post by chum94555 »

I now use UVS 8.O and am used to UVS 7.0. IN UVS 7.0 I was able to use split by scene detect (using time code) at the time of the capture

In UVS 8.0 I need to capture the whole tape (clip) and then only I can do split by scene detect. Is this correct? Can I do scene detect at the capture like I did w UVS 7.0?

thanks

Split by scene on capture is only available if you are capturing DV/AVI format, not MPEG. If you are capturing direct to MPEG, you can only split by scene when the capture is complete.

Thanks KEN. I am capturing using DV camera as DV and not MPEG. How do I activate SCENE DETECT feature in VS 8.0 at Capture? thanks

I no longer have either VS 7 or 8 on my computer, so cannot be sure. But I seem to recall that the split by scene control was a little check box up in the left had top corner of the capture screen. Is there nothing in the manual/help?

Hi
Ken is correct the Split by Scene tick box is on the left under the ‘Duration-Source-Format ‘symbols.
As far as I know it has not moved and was in a similar position from VS 5 .

Yes it is in virtually the same place in versions 7, 8, and 9 - remember though that you may not actually see it unless your camcorder is connected by firewire and ready to transfer and you are on the Capture video screen of UVS.
