Where exactly did you find 50P for 1920 x 1080 video? When I open the Blu-Ray authoring module and go into the settings in the Options icon in the bottom left of the burning screen, all I am offered is a choice between Upper and Lower Field First. That is even the case when I click on the 'Change MPEG Settings" button and choose Customize. UFF or LFF makes it 50i not 50P.

While you have that Options icon open, we might as well address you problem about going back to the menu after watching one of the videos. If you look down at the bottom of the Options box, you will see the box beside "Auto repeat when disc playback ends" is ticked by default. Untick it, and then the box below it becomes active, with a dropdown menu. Choose 'Back to Menu'. See attached image.

I created the source .mts file in the different formats. Those included 25p and 50p.

I've gone into that options menu, thank you. I've changed that so as not to repeat and to return to the menu. Hopefully that'll help.

The desktop is now busy authoring another .ISO image. Should be completed before the morning.

Yes -- mts/m2ts files can certainly be 50/60P. But that does not automatically make them Blu-Ray compatible. Since 1920 x 1080 50/60P files do NOT conform to the international BD standard, they will be converted as part of the burning process to 50i. That will only lengthen the burning process, perhaps quite considerably, but also slightly degrade the quality of the video since each re-render of a lossy format such as this involves some loss in quality. That is why I say that, if you are producing files first rather than use VSP files in the burning process, you would be better off producing 25P or 50i video from the start.

In one sense, that rather antiquated BD international standard is one reason I seldom bother about burning BD discs these days. I much prefer the smoothness of 50P footage, and the quality difference, while small, is nonetheless there, So these days I produce 50P footage which I then simply copy onto either a USB stick drive or external hard drive, and plug that into either my Blu-Ray player (PlayStation 3) or into my Western Digital streaming media player, both of which are connected to my HDTV via HDMI. And the resulting quality on the TV is excellent.

But of course, if you want to distribute your masterpieces to friends and family and don't have a large supply of USB stick drives, then an actual BD disc is your only option -- and for those, the international standard will apply, regardless of what format you put into the burning module.
