Corel Video Studio Prox8 trial - artifacts
Hi guys,
take a look on this video please: https://youtu.be/rNvVIyckOEc.
I'm going to buy Corel Video Studio Pro x8 Ulimate, so I downloaded trial to test it. I have problem with m2ts files. As you can see on the video above, in 1 and 3 seconds there are artifacts which appears only in m2ts files. I rendered for example mpg files and there was no problem.
I tried also reinstall my codecs, but it didn't solve the problem.
Do you have any idea?
Of course original m2ts files are correct.
Greetings from Poland!

Re: Corel Video Studio Prox8 trial - artifacts
Where did the .m2ts video come from? A lot of people use m2ts with X8 and have no problems... But unfortunately, the X8 trial version is severely cut-down and missing some important things. These include all codecs which do not come as part of Windows. I am not sure if the m2ts codec is part of Windows... so that could be your problem.

They are from Sony AX2000E. They all works in Corel Video Studio ProX4 which I have on my computer, but I want to buy new version... It's too risky if I buy new version and there will be problem with this files which I use all the time...Ken Berry wrote:Where did the .m2ts video come from? Maybe m2ts isn't part of Windows but I have K-Lite codecs and everything works. I can watch these files and edit them in CVS x4, so it should works in newest version too. I don't want to download illegal version to check that this problem is unavailable in full version.

Re: Corel Video Studio Prox8 trial - artifacts
Hi
I use MTS files recorded with my Panasonic camera, no problems with editing or burning Bluray.
I have to use Smart Proxy but that’s just my older pc, otherwise all is fine.
The trial version is a problem having its limitations, not being able to set MTS properties does not help.
You could try setting MPEG4 1920 x 1080 as your properties.
Then render to Mpeg4.
If you could make a sample available, maybe upload to Windows One Drive.
We can test our video files to see if they perform as expected.
Please contact Corel via their Facebook, maybe explain the trial is not fit for purpose and that is affecting your decision to purchase.
But as I say if you can provide samples we are willing to give them a run.

Re: Corel Video Studio Prox8 trial - artifacts
Thank you very much for your help!
I uploaded 2 original files which I used to make my movie.
They are available here: http://we.tl/AVJk08PURM
The problem is, that I see this artifacts also when I'm editing my movie on timeline. This artifacts shows up in random moments. When I make my movie first time, artifact is in the other place, than I render my movie second time.
I read in some articles that source of my problem can be this, that I have two version of VideoStudio on my computer. Is it possible?

Re: Corel Video Studio Prox8 trial - artifacts
I will download and test those clips, as I am sure Trevor will also do. However, I wanted to quickly answer this question of having two versions of VS on the same computer. Some of us here -- including us Admin people -- have two or more versions of Video Studio on the same computer with no problems. In our case, we do it so we can help out people with older versions of VS. But again I must stress that having two versions does NOT cause problems. They operate separately from each other, though only one version can be opened at a time.I read in some articles that source of my problem can be this, that I have two version of VideoStudio on my computer. Is it possible?

Re: Corel Video Studio Prox8 trial - artifacts
I downloaded those two clips and opened them in my full version of X8 Ultimate. Both played with absolutely no artifacts visible at all. I then rendered a new video clip using "Same As First Clip", and again got a perfect video clip with no artifacts. I looked at the two original clips and the third new clip in both VLC player and Windows Media Player on my full HD (1920 x 1080) 24 inch monitor, and again could not see any artifacts at all in any of them.
In other words, I don't think there is any reason in the world why you need to worry about the full version of X8 being able to handle your video perfectly well.

The files plays and rendered well here also. I used my X8 on win7 and I don't have k-lite.

Re: Corel Video Studio Prox8 trial - artifacts
Hi Snake11
Yes there does seem to be a problem using the Trial, we can only set Standard Definition sizes not HD for Project Properties, that means you are viewing the video on a 720 x 576 frame, clearly that will impact on quality.
Ken set your project properties to use DV-Avi.
So yes your video does look poor.
However we can cheat a little, go to Settings Project Properties
1 / Format as DV / AVI
2 / Edit
3 / AVI tab – choose Compression as None
4 / Set Frame type to Frame Based, (I believe your video uses that type)
5 / General tab – set Frame Size to 1920 x 1080
6 / OK
Hopefully Timeline playback should improve, note…whilst playing double click preview screen for full screen playback.
You may need to activate Smart Proxy, depends on the pc capabilities?
7 / Settings – Smart Proxy Manager – Enable Smart Proxy
Now add your video to the timeline.
These are your video files properties
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Frame-based
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 22000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
As Ken says you should not have any problems editing using the full version.
The trial version is not suitable for HD editing, something Corel need to address.

Re: Corel Video Studio Prox8 trial - artifacts
Wow, support from this forum is awesome:).
I didn't know that Trial version isn't compatible with HD. I changed settings in project properties but it didn't solve problem. I think it's really problem with trial version. But before I buy full version, I'll try to edit these files on my laptop. If there will be the same problem I will be sure that problem is in trial version.
Thank you all for your support!
