Renamed a project and now it's gone forever!
I was opening a project but just before I did, I renamed it and now it's gone forever. I can't find it anywhere. It has to relink but anywhere I try to find the file, it says it no longer exists. I worked quite a few hours on this project already and I didn't think just by renaming it, it would disappear. Does anyone know of a way to get it back? I was thinking about doing a system restore. It seems like corel would give you a warning about renaming a file but it doesn't.

Renaming a file does not make it disappear - it is somewhere on your system. Also renaming is done by Windows not Corel.
Have you done a system wide search using Windows search? Did you search for any files with the extension vsp?

And also check in Video Studio's Preference to see what has been set as the Working Folder, then check there.
If you have either X7 or X8, also check in Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\My Projects since project files are normally stored there by default, as would a renamed one.

Re: Renamed a project and now it's gone forever!
Thank you both very much! I didn't know that the file was in windows only. If I knew more about computers, I would have known that. Now that I know, it's pretty obvious.
I have my videos and video projects on an external hard drive. It was pretty hard to find but I found it with the original file name. So I guess I can't rename the video. I just wanted to do that to make it easier to recognize and find it.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the help!

Of course you can rename it: File > Save As, and give it another name.
