MSP7 out of sync

Post by DrJohn666 »

I rendered a video, and the audio and video are out of synce. The video was rendered from an mpeg2 format to dvdntsc. I tried the faq which had you modify the msp.ini file
[VIODRIVER]
CloseAudioDTR=1
I then re-ran the rendering... This did not help.
I am running xp pro sp1 on a 1.8ghz pentium 4 machine with 512 meg of memory. I am running msp 7 and I have installed sp3.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
John

Is that your first attempt or did you have successful renders before?

first attempt.

Yes,
It has been my 1st,2nd and 3rd attempt. It has never worked correctly, or I should say I have never been able to get the sync to work right when rendering a dvd. I think I have been able to render a mpeg with no problem.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled msp7 and sp 3. ( this didn't make a difference.)

The main question I have is; are you certain that the transcode to "NTSC DVD" was even necessary?

To this end I ask: what were the original stream properties of the source MPEG-2? If you don't know then may I suggest you download the free version of BitRate Viewer, which will analyze the flie and display the basic stream properties;

http://www.tecoltd.com/bitratev.htm

A lot more screen resolutions etc. are compatable with NTSC DVD than most people are aware of....

When I started out, I had similar problems which were traced back to my analog capture card used and the onboard sound (AC97). Fitting a PCI soundcard, SonicXplosion, and using AV to DV through my camcorder fixed that.
Previously I had a similar problem with the creation of SVCD, out of sync. This was traced back to a DVD player problem, a different player did not have the sync problem.
This goes to show, there are so many different reasons for similar problems that it is almost impossible to give meaningful help without knowing system spec's software mix, source properties, codec's used etc.

Version 6.5 does not give me the sync. problem. Unfortunately ther are always new features in the newer version that you want to utilize.
My equipment is as follows;
Soyo dragon mother board
1.8ghz p4 cpu
512 meg ram
2 120 gig 7200rpm maxtor drives
matrox e450 tv video card
hp 200idvd drive
and creativelabs audiology sound card.
