VSX8 Ultimate Upgrade from X7- missing transitions

Post by hrpufnstuf65 »

Hi All,

Been awhile!
Just a quick question: I just did the online upgrade to VSX8 Ultimate from VSX7 Ultimate, and installed all the 64-bit links.
However, I noticed that there are hardly any transitions, compared to what it was previously (see attached screenshot).
It only has "Overlay Transitions", and "Favorites" to choose from.

Am I missing something?
Did they move these elsewhere?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

I just made clean install for X8 ultimate and had same problem. Reseting library from Settings ->Llibrary manager did brought them back.

I'm having the same problem. I've uninstalled an re-installed three times now, but only the same handful of transitions you show in your image.

Sad...

Hi Guys

The X8 program is provided with two install files, the “Main” program and the “Contents” file. (VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe)
These should be installed to provide full functions for the program, your libraries will / should be complete.

If you have purchased the Ultimate then an additional file is provided to install the extras, ProDad etc.
Finally a Bluray add-on is available at a small cost.

Can you confirm you have installed both installation files.
Close Video Studio before installing the Contents package.

pyykola, that worked. Easy-peasy. :D

Just opening up Videostudio, and going into Settings> Library Manager> Reset Library did the trick!"
Maybe they'll create a patch for this- seems like a weird glitch to have.

Thank you all for your quick responses!

lata - yes, I did indeed install everything, and in the order in which you specified in your extremely wonderful installation guide. In fact, I've done the complete installation seven times now, with the same result - missing transitions.

HOWEVER - resetting the libraries has given me the transistions! Now I just need to rebuild the libraries I need for my project (1126 photos being used in a Celebration of Life for my mother). The addition of the marking items used from the libraries is what brought me to VSX8. Hopefully everything else will now work like a charm.

Thanks all!

Unfortunately not out of the woods yet.
Discovered since resetting library, which did put all transistions back, now the bonus stuff- ProDad plug-ins, Mercelli, Adorage, etc... GONE.
I tried to re-install the VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus download (had VSX8 closed while re-installing) and opened VSX8, but none of the plug-ins were there.
Tried it twice.

Any ideas, anyone?

Hi
There does seem to be problems for some users installing the Contents and Bonus files, I just don’t understand why?
Always close the program before installing those files.

Can you reset the program by renaming the folder “18.0” to “18.0old”
Add %appdata% to the Start Search, that should locate the Roaming Folder.
Navigate to
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\18.0

Rename that folder.

If you go to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro [x64], change the name of the 18.0 folder to something like 18.0_OLD. Then restart VS. That 18.0 folder will be rebuilt and should now contain all the transitions and all the bonus plug-ins.

Ken & lata,

Thank you for the suggestion.
I did just what you described, and saw the files being built.
At about 80%, gave an unknown error and shut down.
I then opened V8, and to my surprise, saw all the missing FX.
But, guess what?
Transitions were gone again, like the graphic shows in my original post.
So, I figured I'll try resetting library again.

Now I'm back to having transitions, but no bonus FX as described in my previous post.

How can I get all the transitions AND all of the Video FX?

Looks like Corel may have dropped the ball on this release...

***EDIT***
A picture is worth a thousand words, they say... maybe this will help.
BTW, this again was an upgrade online, from VSX7 Ultimate- Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1

hrpuffnstuff65 - what can I say? Seems Corel tries, but beta testers can't hit everything. You WOULD think, though, that installation would be a big deal, LOL.

Hi Guys

Corel have a patch for a problem with Graffiti, I don't know what the patch actually does but could simply reset the program, worth a try anyway?

http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/support/updates/

As a beta tester I have installed VS X8 many times, to many to count, both purchased versions and the trial.
I have not had any problems, no missing samples or filters.

So I don't really know whats happening with your programs but would think its something on your computers rather than the program, otherwise all would have the same problems?
I could be wrong of course..... you may have a corrupt installation file?

lata,

Don't know how the installation file could have gotten corrupted, but I have no issue doing an uninstall/ clean re-install for the entire program, all over again.
With that being said, maybe you can help- can you offer a step-by-step, by which order should I install the files, and should I reboot after any of the steps, to ensure a stable installation?

Appreciate any help.

Hi hrpufnstuf65

Can you please update your profile to include your computer specification, I assume you are using 64 bit processor and 64 bit Video Studio? Can you confirm that.

Uninstalling the program, use windows Program and Features, during uninstall you will be asked to remove “Personal Data” (something like that) choose YES
Then delete the setup folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X8 Setup Files

OK

Corel Video Studio X8 Ultimate comes with three installation files.

VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_1Main.exe
Install first….. this installs the main program, limited library content

VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe
Install second …this installs the additional content to complete your installation.

VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus.exe
For the Ultimate you will have this additional file…this Installs the Ultimate packages ProDad / New Blue etc..

Finally … you may have purchased the Bluray Add-on.
VideoStudioX8_Blu-ray.exe

Running the file will extract its content saved here, 64 and 32 bit programs.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X8 Setup Files

These files are used to install the program.

For 32 bit will be installed to :- C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8
For 64 Bit will be installed to :- C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8

Please install to these default locations.

First let me know if installing 64 bit or 32 bit
Can you uninstall, then re-install only the Main program.
I will do the same to compare our programs / library contents etc.

But first I need to know which version?
