Hi guys,
I recently ran into a new problem that I have encountered in the past. I have a simple 5 minute .mp4 clip that I added to my video. As soon as I select the sound mixer though, the program attempts to load the wave file "black squiggly lines" so that I can adjust the volume up and down in certain places like I've down a thousand times before with various other mp4 files, but for this one clip it constantly freezes the entire program and I have to task manager out of it. I don't know what it is about this one mp4 file that it has such a problem with. Anyone experience anything like it before?

Re: VSP X7 Sound mixer problem
Anyone have any ideas on this? I've tried relentlessly the past several days to find something... anything online to stop this from happening, or understand what's causing it. I've utilized the sound mixer countless times in the past with these mp4 files without any problem so I'm at a complete loss. I can't do anything with the sound mixer for this mp4 without the entire Corel program freezing on me.

Do you have a Dropbox account or something similar where you can upload the clip -- or a smaller part of it -- so we can test it at our end?

Hi Ken,
I do not, however if you'd like, I cut the video down to a size that is under 20mb so I can email it if you'd like. I tried creating a new VSP project with just this 10 second mp4 and its producing the same results; as soon as you try adjusting the wave data line up or down, the program freezes.

Re: VSP X7 Sound mixer problem
Yes you could do that. Thanks.
The other thing you could try would be to use a third party video converter and run that particular clip through it with output back to mp4. That might rid it of some problem tag embedded in it...

Re: VSP X7 Sound mixer problem
Hmmm... Well thank you for the sample clip from that video. But when I inserted it in the VS X7 timeline (and also that of X8) I had no trouble at all switching to the audio view and seeing those black squiggly lines. I could even adjust the audio levels in the clip. See attached image.
So either your problem relates somehow to your computer setup, or else the defect is elsewhere in the full video clip, I can't replicate your problem. You could in any case try my last suggestion and run the full clip through a third party converter, but outputting to mp4 with similar properties.

Re: VSP X7 Sound mixer problem
Thank you Ken, I'll see what I can do with a 3rd party converter and see what I come up with. It's odd though because last night it came to my attention that the issue may have spread. In using the Corel Screen Cap program, once concluded and I went to review the file, I discovered there is no sound. Well, I shouldn’t say that. There’s a very faint sound as if the volume setting on the laptop is at like 5 but it’s crackly for a second or two and then all sound just disappears.
I don’t think it’s an internal mic issue because I’ve also used the screen capture program before without any problems. It seemed like the sound problems with screen cap and VSP were directly related to it being a Corel issue, since both problems are Corel related and the internal microphone would have no bearing on my original issue with VSP manipulating sound wave data. I just wasn't sure what the cause is/was, or how to remedy it, but if the clip works ok for you then it sounds like I have 2 totally unrelated problems that just so happened to occur at the same time. The joys of computers...
