Project Properties x7 - Encountered an Improper Argument.

After changing my Project Properties since I last started VS, I now get an error message - Encountered an Improper Argument.
The Properties box comes up on screen but greyed out. I have restarted my computer and VS but still get the problem so can't change the properties for a new video. Also when I insert a new video I don't get asked if I want to set properties to first video even though that is selected in project settings.
Any Ideas please?

Join the club, I have had this problem since X7 but there are few users experiencing the issue.

Please contact Corel Support to report this issue. If you do not have free support try their Facebook page.

Corel did take control of my pc, then went back to think about the problem, no need to mention that’s the last I have heard.

The problem is associated with Instant Projects and selecting Yes to Import from Earlier versions.
The web page describes some things I have tried and how to reset the problem.
That’s about as far as I have got to identifying the problem, so don’t hit that yes button.

I dint have use of my pc at the moment, a bit of decorating getting in the way, so cannot test again till I get the thing booted up.

thanks for reply, I had a quick look, but looks a bit complicated, but may have a go later. I have the original files I downloaded from Corel, Would I use these to reinstall? I started what I thought was the installation file VSX7_Ult_PF_x64_2014-10-03.exe but it asked if I wanted to uninstall the program, so cancelled that. Do I have to get a new file from Corel?

Hi Alan

You should not need to re-install the program

The problem is associated with Instant Projects, they are saved to the VSPTemplates folder. Clear that folder, moving the sub folders to a new location.

Reset the program using the Re-Name folder 18.0. to “18.0old”

Run the program will generate a new 18.0 folder
Select the instant projects icon , will update the library.

You may be asked to update from earlier versions, say NO to that.

Hopefully the Improper Argument will disappear

You can work round the issue by using Show Messages settings… to set the Project Properties

thanks for laying the procedure out like that, you made it look a lot easier, and it worked just fine. It looked a little daunting when I first looked at the web page you directed me to, but after having dinner and a good feed I can face anything.
