Just got off the phone with technical support. The Micromv camera's no longer work with Ulead, despite what their sales materials say. The technician I spoke to said that it is no longer worth it to them to troubleshoot the cameras and said that there is nothing that can or most likely will be done. He admitted that version 9 does not work, and that version 8 of video studio works sometimes. So those that want to use their camera's have to buy videostudio 7, which is the only software that I have found captures correctly, though with many crashes. Then import it into a real editing program.
Sad, that this awesome technology has gone the way of the dodo bird and betamx.
Ulead has ended support for MICROMV!!!!

Yikes! What do I do now? We got our Micromv camera as a gift. We have used it for the first 3 years of our kids lives! How do I get our video off of the tapes? I've tried Sony's MovieShaker, it captures them fine, but refuses to export them (The audio is garbled) into a usable format.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

It might be possible to integrate the UVS 7 MicroMV capture plugin with UVS 9. I can put together a post on how to do this when I get home, though I have no way of testing this without having a MicroMV camera.
MicroMV has never been the success that Sony had hoped for, and their own level of support for this format has been half-hearted at best. With DVD-based and solid-state recording as an alternative, it will no doubt go the way of the Dodo bird.
