Problems Rendering in X8 Trial

Post by JPalmer »

So I am a long time user of X3 and recently downloaded the free X8 trial to see if it is worth upgrading. I completely deleted the previous installation of X3. I have created a project but it will not render. It will either hang at 0% and then pop up an empty error box, or progress up to 13% or so and then pop up saying complete but it is only ever the first few seconds of the video, not the entire project.

I have spent a few hours trying everything and I am lost here, never had an issue with X3. X8 runs like a dog too, X3 way waaaaaaay faster. I am just working with 720P video took on this project.

Well since X3 was probably the worst disaster in VS history, you should perhaps not have uninstalled it just yet. Two or more different versions of VS can happily coexist on the same computer.

But the main reason in this case is that the X8 trial version is pretty much of a disaster too. For their own reasons Corel has left out some important parts, such as a burning module and all codecs which are not already on your computer as part of Windows.

So your troubles might be associated with that... What format are you seeking to render your project in?

Thanks for the reply and sorry for my late reply. I was trying to edit some 720P MOV & MP4s and tried rendering them in any format and nothing worked. I converted all the MP4s to MOV to see if that was the issue and it didn't help. I ended up converting all of the MOV to WMV files and it likes those but I can only render the WMV files as WMV also so I am using a 3rd party program to convert the WMV to something usefull. This X8 trial is a piece of crap. I see X7 is available for only $30 right now, I might just snag it up.

Also try exporting a small section, using the same settings as your source video, and view the outputted video. What is this quality like?
