Title Ending Too Quickly
Hey all,
I'm using VS8 Ultimate. I can't figure out how to make the end of my title longer. Doesn't matter if I use one of the programs titles or make my own, the very instant the last word or letter comes on the screen, depending on the effects I have applied, BAM, it's gone and you're into whatever clip comes after it. Any transition applied between the title and the next clip cuts off the title before it's finished its thing.
I'm not talking about setting the duration of the title. That just slows down any title effects/animation between title beginning and end.
I know you can hold ctrl and set the transition at the beginning of the next clip instead of overlapping with the title, but even that isn't smooth enough because of how quickly the title ends. I need to figure out how to make the end of the title( that last frame) linger a few seconds after its animations are done. Apparently, the program won't let you set the scrubber at a point in the title and take a Freeze Frame of it, then adjust the duration of the Freeze Frame.
I'm pretty good about figuring out work arounds but this has me stumped. Sitting here writing this, I thought of another work around to try if you guys tell me it's not possible to do simply. After the last word or letter comes on screen, depending on the effect applied, I'll add another word field but make the text invisible. The time it takes for that invisible text to come on screen after the last visible text will give the appearance of the title lingering a second or two.
Thanks in advance for any tips.

"Apparently, the program won't let you set the scrubber at a point in the title and take a Freeze Frame of it, then adjust the duration of the Freeze Frame.""
That is exactly the method you should use. Move the cursor to the frame you want to use, select Edit and then Take Snapshot. Then insert the snapshot at that location and adjust the duration. You can add effects to that snapshot to perhaps fade out or dissolve into the next scene.

Re: Title Ending Too Quickly
Thanks Canuk, that did the trick. When I was trying to get to know the VS8 trial version of the software, I got used to using freeze frame for that. I don't remember now but "snapshot" might not have been available in the trial version, so I got used to doing things the way I could do them with it. Just now figuring out the features of the full program.

Re: Title Ending Too Quickly
Make sure you take the snapshot in Project rather than Clip mode as then you will normally get a much higher quality still photo...

Right, ok, thanks for the tip. When working with the trial version and using Freeze Frame to capture a snapshot, I kinda thought the quality was poor and should be better.

Another work around I just discovered is to Copy/Paste the text, making it a clone and deselect the applied animation in the cloned preset texts. Remember to deselect the animation in all the preset motion texts by clicking on each one and deselecting "apply" under the "attribute" tab on each. Now you can stretch the cloned text to your desired length/time.

Re: Title Ending Too Quickly
Hi Everyone, refreshing this thread:
I am working with VideoStudio2020 and can't figure out a solution, per what is shared above. When I go to the last frame of the title and in project mode take a screenshot - [edit] +[Take a snapshot] I get a .bmp or .jpg, both of which are slightly different than the last frame which I notice when I add the new screenshot pic to the timeline to extend the length of the title after the animation finishes. So when I preview or output the file there is a slight but noticeable shift from a sharp, clear title to slightly fatter and more blurred text.
Any solutions to this someone has figured out? Thanks!!

Andre36's method above is correct.

Re: Title Ending Too Quickly
Hi
There are several ways to do this
1 / Using the text editor to scroll and setting the pause durations
2 / Customise Motion would be my preferred method
VSP attached to open with VS 2020

Thank you, Trevor! Both methods work really well and are fast tweaks. I am not a Newbie with VS but just learned simple techniques from your examples that will serve me very well in the future!
