Instead of speculating about license fees, you could just ask them.
We asked, we ranted, we raved, we spoke politely... and were told it was a licence fee issue that led to all the cutbacks, mainly in the trial version but also in the final version.

Moreover, I wasn't suggesting you do any research -- I was just suggesting you (or anyone else) try out something that has worked in the past for both us and other users.

And yes, I may have become a bit confused about whose problem I have been addressing, but you must admit it becomes a bit confusing when you are talking so forcefully that one must assume you might have some personal experience in the same problems... Apologies since/if you were not...

Please believe me Ken - you are completely imaging this "forceful" thing into my posts. I suggest you read them without the defensive attitude already in your head :)

When I first suggested the Trial version was cut down because of licensing fee issues, I was bringing information from the Pinnacle forum that may have been helpful. It turned out to be correct. I'm now pointing out that Pinnacle Studio has the ability to inherit plug-ins supplied with earlier versions, and in fact the programmers have put some effort into ensuring that this is the case. Therefore in this case I don't think licensing is at the heart of the issue. I would test your hypothesis, but I don't have the required versions to do so, I'm not as knowledgeable about the program as you are, and I have no motivation other than curiosity.

Ok so here is my problem or not possibly .
I thought my X8 ultimate programme looked a bit thin on content at first start.
Contacted support using my 30 day free period from buying this programme and they told me to go into programme and select add media files and gave me this file path - C:\UsersName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\Bonus Content
However nothing is there , But if i go to C/Programme files/Corel/Corelvideostudio/ i see folders named Content - EditingStyle -Samples and lots more
I know Adorage and Boris and the rest of the plugins are installed but i am wondering if indeed i am missing the extra content i should be getting for purchasing the "ultimate" edition

Is there a simple way i can go into programme and check ?
Like a quick test that only people with "ultimate" edition and bonus content could do , I also got another download called Contents which apparently will fill my X8 with Content and templates but it does look a bit thin of content .

Thanks for any replies and suggestions this post receives .

The file path given to you by Corel refers to bonus content downloaded from the templates section of the "Do More"tab, orange circle at top of library

Hi Daniel

The X8 program is provided with two install files, the “Main” program and the “Contents” file. (VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe)
These should be installed to provide full functions for the program, your libraries will / should be complete.

If you have purchased the Ultimate then an additional file is provided to install the extras, ProDad etc.
Finally a Bluray add-on is available at a small cost.

Ok, There are also the Corel Guide – Do More, as shown by Robert.
Lots of extras, mostly Instant Project Templates but the Bonus Content once downloaded will be installed and saved to C:\UsersName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\Bonus Content
This folder contains some samples, most are small not high definition, this folder is probably not worth downloading, my personal opinion.
The samples have to be manually inserted to the libraries, like any other image or video file.

Having the name Bonus Content can be quite confusing and has nothing to do with the actual installation of the program.

VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe is the correct installation file.

Daniel if you haven't done so install/run this file

I have installed the Bonus Content and it is not in the file path you specify . As i told the customer support from Corel also . It is NOT in that file path .
Stuff i install from within the programme under the orange "get more content" does get installed there but not the Bonus content i downloaded as a extra. That is located under C/programefiles/Corelvideostudio/
And i am using 64bit

Hi Daniel

All downloads from the Do-More are saved to here:-
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads
The folders are hidden by Windows so you will have to set Show hidden Files and Folders.
The folders have numerical names so a little difficult identifying their content.

The Do-More Bonus Content file is called “VS_Bonus.exe”

Can you check to see if you have this file on your pc……….If yes then the download worked ok.

The installation should start automatically, also running the file should install the content to C:\Users\\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\Bonus Content

One of the video samples is called “V01.wmv” can you search the pc for that file.

So either the download did not happen or the installation failed?

You should be able to download that file again, most don’t allow that and shows as installed but the Bonus Content is always available.

I assume you installed the program to its default C/Drive locations and not a different drive.

Video Studio program installation, can you confirm you have installed VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe file.

I can also confirm i have found all the additional content but not in the file path you or customer support have specified.
It is installed to my default drive of C and i did not change anything while it was installing.

Thanks

Hi Dan

At least we found those files, seems strange that Corel couldn’t do that.
I installed that folder yesterday and it did install to the correct location.
No idea why yours should go to C/Drive

I asked earlier did you install the main program to your C/Drive, the default location for the program, or have you installed to another drive?

I assume you now have all the libraries content.

This is what I see for some of the content…

Video --21
Photo -- 24
Audio – 40
Transitions – 128
Graphics Colour Pattern -- 25

Wow. I didn't expect that my post would elicit so much discussion. I am really grateful to everyone for I learned some new things in how to work with the product and, for example, I didn't know that Corel now own Pinnacle as well as VideoStudio. But, back to my original question. This has been resolved much to my satisfaction by Corel refunding me the money for the Version of Pro and selling me ULT for the reduced special offer for my region - so I come out happy after all of the frustrations. After uninstalling and downloading ULT, I now discover that I needn't have done that because the main programs are identical - it is only the add-ons that make Ultimate ULTIMATE!

One food discovery - I thought that I would have to go through and "reMercalli" some of my jerky bits because I had opened the project without Mercalli, but am delighted that they are now re-applied once Mercalli is available.

My tow big lessons are:
1 Always download the free trial to check it out before actually purchasing
2. Always read the comparison lists of the products.

I did, indeed have X7 ULT, which is why I had these add-ons already but, like X8, X7 also opens as X7 PRO.

Thanks again everyone.

Hi mwsing

Thanks for the update and glad you managed to upgrade to X8 Ultimate.

I don’t know which way Corel will go with the Ultimate and Pro, that’s if anything will change in the coming years.
They could of course provide one program, Video Studio, then additional Add-ons for the Ultimate package at an extra cost, either the full package or individual items?
In a similar way that the Bluray Add-on has gone.
Just a thought?
