Hi Candy

Thanks for the samples, sorry for the delay in my reply, just a little busy.
I have downloaded one sample at 40 seconds (Sample 20150404194033-1.mts)
The second is still downloading, that does seem quite long?
Like Robert I don’t have a problem playing the clip but not had time to render the video.

Video studio shows the properties as :-

MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(HDMV-NTSC), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 22699 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)

They look ok to me and should burn to Bluray ok.

Do you use Show Messages from Settings F6, that will make sure your project Properties match the video files properties.

We assume when you render the clip you use Share Same as First Clip, or at least a profile using the above settings.

Again a little busy so wont be able to reply for about 5 hours

Trevor, the first clip I sent was too long, so sorry.

On the 40 second one I hear the audio pops in the project before render.

I'll try rendering same as first clip and see what I hear.

When I get to burning, I'm not burning to Blueray.

thanks for your help.

Hi Candy

The files were ok for me, a little long to download but I have plenty of time, always something else to do…

My reference to Bluray was merely to say the video is bog standard HD and should not cause you problems.
I realise you convert these to Standard Definition and burn DVD’s

The samples you provided, well the first was a MP4, I don’t know why you created that?
You should be rendering to the same properties as the originals, or converting to Mpeg2 DVD compliant video file.

I am playing the 40 second one now, it seems ok to me, the loudest clicks are the fire burning sounds, nothing unusual..

Converting using Share – Same as first video file should create a good video
Please also confirm your project properties also use those properties.

Let us know how you get on.

Then we can try converting the files to Mpeg2.

It does however seem that the clicks or on your pc and not the video???

Candy can you view your device manager to see if there are any problems, yellow triangles showing on the panel?

FWIW, I downloaded the short sample video and have been playing around with it. Like the others, I too cannot hear any pops. There is the occasional rumble in the background, but I attribute that to wind over the camera's microphone. I have my X8 set to give a message when inserting the first clip, and used that to set the Project Properties to be be the same as the clip. Then I rendered it using "Same As Project Properties". This was with SmartRender enabled. Again there were no pops. I then disabled SmartRender and rendered again to Same As Project Properties, but again could hear no pops.

So I would have to agree with the conclusion already reached above that the pops are being caused by your system, and not the video itself.

Trevor and Ken, thanks so much for looking at this issue for me. I will try some things per your suggestions and will look at the device manager. I'll let you know what happens. In the meantime I'll finish editing it, almost done.

You have helped me narrow things down.

You guys are always so helpful. Haven't been able to use VS (all editions) without this forum.
