Audio popping X8 Ultimate on render

Hi - I'm having an audio problem in X8 Ultimate when I render video of movie file. I've compared project properties to video properties and they are the same.

What I'm getting is low decibel popping only after render, it's not horrible but I don't like it.

The project audio plays ok, this only happens when rendered. This is happening with audio embedded in the video, not audio on separate track.

Camera is Canon video camera XA20.

I've tried different things for two days. Any help is appreciated. Ask me what you need to see and I'll try to post it here.

I just tried rendering "same as project settings", with smart render checked, but still have audio pops.

More experimenting from me and by the way I had the same problem with X7 Ultimate, was hoping it would be ok in X8, anyway, here's what I just tried and how I've worked around audio pop in X7 also.

I saved the X8 project as X6, then rendered it in X6 and pops are gone.

I've been having to do this with X7 too since it came out.

So there's something in X6 that does not cause the audio popping on render. What do you think?

Sorry you are still having problems with audio popping, I remember you posting about this before.
I think updating your audio drivers was recommended, I don’t know if you did that?

I assume the problem occurs with all video from the Canon XA20

Can you provide us with a sample clip? or clips
I would suggest using Windows Microsoft One Drive to upload our files.

We can then try your clips on our pc’s hopefully to identify the problem.
Certainly its gone on long enough……

I know there have been some issues with newer versions not performing as well as their older siblings, we don’t really have a reason for that.

If I did this correctly (I've only used One Drive once) here is link to the following:

2. MPEG rendering of small portion of the X8 project.

The audio pops are subtle, low. I can hear them at approximately the following minutes:

0:56
1:07
1:10
1:23
2:23

I have not updated my audio driver due to I need to figure out how to do that.

At least if you are able to play the MPEG file without pops we'll know it's my computer, right?

Thanks so much for your help and yes this is same problem I had before. I'm working around it by saving project as X6 and rendering from X6.

Trevor, I just listened to the sample MPEG on One Drive and I hear the low audio pops before minute :56 too.

Is that the original clip or the rendered clip? We need the original to try and sort out where the problem occurs.

Dear Canuck and Trevor:

There is no audio pop that I can hear on the raw file, no audio pop in the VS X8 project, but audio pop on any rendered file rendered in Ultimates of X8 or X7, I tried a number of different kinds of render. But ... when rendered with VS X6 Ultimate, no audio pop.

Couldn't you have given us just a minute instead of the more than 6 minutes in that clip! It's a big file to download and on my internet connection, which is not bad but nowhere near as fast as some, it will take more than an hour to download!!

EDIT: the download failed about half way through. I don't think I will try again, sorry...

Ken - This is probably a dumb question, but how do I split the raw file?

When I split it on the timeline I'm unable to save just the small section as a separate file unless there's a way to do that. All the clips I have with the audio popping are going to be too large to put on One Drive.

Ken/Trevor/Canuck - I figured out how to cut out smaller original file from the camera.

It's 107 MB - let me know if it's too big and I'll cut it down.

When I play it on X8 Ultimate timeline before render I get audio pops at approximate seconds 9, 11,16, 20 and 34-39. Pops are low in sound, almost a gurgle.

I don't get pops when it's played on X6 timeline.

Hi Candy,

Downloaded your clip and played first in QuickTime, no discernible pops, then placed in VSX8 timeline, again no discernible pops in either Project or clip mode. Normally when pops are present there is a spike in the waveform at the pop point, I can see no spikes anywhere along the clip

Robert, that might mean then that it's my audio driver or something like that?
