Mercalli acting weird

Post by trailryder42 »

I've been trying to get Mercalli to stabilize an mp4 video I edited with GoPros own Studio software before I got VS8 Ultimate. Importing it into VS and dragging the Mercalli plug in to the time line. Have watched all the video tutorials I can find and have done it exactly the same. Initially, you get the screen info saying the clip has to be analyzed again. I set the parameters I want in Mercalli under Customize Filter, set Horizontal Split Screen in Compare View so when it's done I can review it. That file is saved on the computer as an .m2t. After I review the clip, I go back to Customize Filter and choose Final Result in the Compare View and click OK.

Now here's what I can't figure out. After I click ok in that last step It takes me back to my clip in the timeline. I want to render it now, so I click on the Share tab, choose the AVC264 option, set the parameters I want, and click save. After its rendered, I go the the folder where it's saved and its still an .m2t file with that initial "must be analyzed again" wording in the video.

Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've retried 3 times.

Thanks for any help.

Hi

Well I am nit sure about the several renders?

1 / You say “I set the parameters I want in Mercalli under Customize Filter, set Horizontal Split Screen in Compare View so when it's done I can review it. That file is saved on the computer as an .m2t.”

To save as M2t you have to render, why are you rendering with Split Screen still showing?

Then you say “After I click ok in that last step It takes me back to my clip in the timeline”

I assume you now play the project and is ok, no Split Screen. Then Share to render, have you tried using Same as First Clip to render to MP4’s original settings.?
After render a thumbnail is placed in the library, play the new file from there.

I wonder if you are selecting the video created in 1 above by mistake?

Thanks for the reply lata.

To clear up a few things, I wasn't rendering the split screen review after Mercallis analysis. The program was saving the analysis as an .m2t, not me.

After scouring the internet, I found that how you have "Project Settings" configured has to match the clips you're importing to work on, as far as FPS, Resolution and such. Then I found that once you run Mercalli Final analysis, you can not alter the clip by doing things like splitting or editing out pieces, as it breaks Mercallis stabilization and you get the "must analyse video" on screen again.

I would get close to finishing an edit and then decide it was still too long and I'd edit out more, not realizing what this was doing to Mercalli, wasn't making sense. Stuff like this isn't covered in any "Official" Corel VS literature I've found. I've been scouring Google to answer questions on how to use the program. I've found no "work flow" suggestions as of yet, but I'm starting to develop an idea of the sequence in which you have to do things so one edit doesn't break or alter the one before it.

So after being sure "Project Settings" is configured right and making sure I do all my clip splitting, cutting and all as the first thing done in my work flow, I haven't had any more trouble with it; well, except for the loud popping in the audio Mercalli seems to be imparting after it is run. Haven't researched that much yet but have found one reference that it might be caused by my systems audio drivers. For now, I've been splitting the audio to a separate track and using audio filters to try to eliminate them.

Please also have a look at this recent thread on Mercalli: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 17#p305417

Can't comment on the audio popping, but I suspect you are right about the drivers...: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 33#p305233

Thanks Ken. I saw both of those threads. Checked audio drivers today. Apparently I have the latest. My popping happens with a regular beat, like every second of video. It's even being rendered in the final product. Not present in the original clip before Mercalli.

Hi

Are you saying the audio popping does not show unless you use Mercalli.
Or is it a problem with other clips.

Even though you have the latest audio drivers, I would uninstall, re-boot the pc and allow Windows to install its default audio drivers.
Visit the Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 web site to download the audio drivers again?

Correct, only after using Mercalli. I just looked at an exported mp4 video I did yesterday, watched in VS. The popping happens every second like clockwork. You can watch the time counter and it's right on the money with every second.

Downloaded the Motherboards audio drivers last night. Found that WIndows Update has them already installed. A reinstall or perhaps a rollback to an earlier driver may be in order to rule them out. Will keep investigating. May try to upload a short snipet to Youtube for you to see or just post a link to a clip I already have there that displays this phenom.

Well I hope I'm not speaking too soon, but I just unistalled and reinstalled audio drivers, took a 30 second clip from an original file, ran it thru Mercalli and no popping in the result. Then added my usual filters and fades one at a time to be sure adding none of them were causing something weird. Everything is good. Time will tell if this is a fluke or not.
