No more update to program? Suggestions

Post by brucefl »

hi, Not sure if this is the best place to ask the question. I have used PhotoImpact forever (so it seems) I know they are not updating the program anymore (unfortunate).
I received an email from Corel on Aftershot Pro2. I doubt I will go for another program unless forced to because of New Window programs, Windows 10 will be coming out.
Anyone have suggestions on another one or does anyone use another. Paintshop, Aftershop? I am not sure that I want a different one anyways. Hard to beat a good program.
Thanks Bruce.

If PhotoImpact does the job for you then I say stick with it as long as you can. It's already officially not supported on Win7 and Win8, probably not meant for Vista. I've never used the program but I believe the closest thing to it that Corel has is Paintshop Pro, which is a pixel editor. Aftershot Pro is more of a raw converter. And it only does a marginal job of that.

I agree with what df said, but I did use PI for a very long time and still have X3 on my PC (win8.1) but it doesn't behave as well as it did on X7. PI was/is an excellent programme and many of us were sorry to see its demise. There will never be an update and eventually just disappear. As for it workin on win.10, we'll just have to wait and see. I have equally used PSP and find it very good for anything I did with PI. In fact, I much prefer PSP now as it has more to offer for a wide range of things you wish to do. If you don't already have PSP, download a trial version first and see how you like it.

For those interested, PhotoImpact does in fact work with Windows 10. I have PhotoImpact X3 and it is running fine on Windows 10.

Yes, I have it on Windows 10 too, but there are glitches in some areas. It is not meant to work! Run in compatibility mode for Windows 7 for better results.
