micromv capture

Post by kellyw »

Has anyone successfully captured video from a micromv device with VideoStudio? I have a Sony Handycam IP (DCR-IP5) and am looking for a better program than Sony's MovieShaker.

Thanks!

UVS 8 worked fine for MicroMV capture, but UVS 9 appears to be broken from the information that has appeared in this forum. You can download the free 30-day trial, but I don't think you'll get it to work with your camera.

And someone else has just posted a separate thread indicating that Ulead tech support has now acknowledged that VS9 does not work, but that they have decided no longer to support Micro MV... Apparently, it's not worth their while - I assume because of the small number of people involved and, as Torsten has separately suggested, because Sony's support for its own technology has been half-hearted at best.

 Have done some research with Sony, and the problem with MovieShaker (and the garbled audio) is an incompatibility with MovieShaker 3.1 and new versions of Apple Quiktime. You need to install version 4 of QT for it to work. Sony neither apoligizes nor provides a fix. Next camera - definitely not a Sony!

Try this:

There is information here about a tool that can convert the .MMV file from the camera into a MPEG2 Program Stream.

Good luck!
