The size is listed on the Tools toolbar. Go to View -> Toolbars -> Tools to enable.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Re: Missing square
Or are you talking about the brush outline?
That is found under FIle -> Preferences -> General Preferences
In the Preferences dialog under "Display and Caching" there is a checkbox for "Show brush outlines" make sure that is selected and hit "OK"

Re: Missing square
You can do that, though it is a Windows function, and can be done to any of your icons. On your desktop, go to your PSP icon and right click it. Select Properties, and in the box which appears it should by default be showing the Shortcut tab. At the bottom are three buttons, the middle one is "Change Icon". Click that. At the top of the new dialogue box which appears, you can Browse to where the image of your new icon is located. Select it and OK out of the boxes. Your new icon should have replaced the default PSP on the desktop...

Re: Missing square
Ah! I think you want to know if PSP can save an image in Icon format (.ico or .icl) which is what Windows will be looking for when you go to Browse for new icon. But I am afraid it will not do that. There is a Microsoft favicon plug-in for Photoshop. It is an .8bi format but does not appear to be recognised when I insert it in PSP. Otherwise, you will probably need to do a Google search for a program out there which can create icons. I used to have one many moons ago -- when I was still using Windows 95!!! -- but I cannot remember its name...
