I have members trying to do a tutorial in the Workshop that makes a frame by using the Canvas Resize. These are the settings they are given to use.
Lock Aspect ratio: Unchecked.
Placement: Click on center placement square as shown below. This will automatically change the Top, Bottom, Left, Right by 10 pixels.
When you click the center, numbers are automatically entered into the fields. You cannot put 10 in each field to make a border of equal size. The numbers change automatically. Apparently the Top & Bottom are linked, and Right & Left are linked. So I can set one of those, top or left for example to 10 but then the numbers for Bottom and Right are automatically changed.
Can anyone help find a way to reset this or fix it?

I see a couple of problems with your settings. You say to uncheck "Lock aspect ratio" yet you have it checked in your screenshot. You'll need to uncheck that before entering the new dimensions. The other problem is that you've entered the wrong New Dimensions if you want to add 10 pixels all the way around. You should enter: Width - 484 pixels and Height - 529 pixels.

Ok, I will give you that. But when I did it I still can't enter 10 all around. Entering 10 in top produces -10 in bottom and 10 in left gets you -10 in right. This results in black on the bottom and left of the image only, not all the way around it as it should. So I still can't make my frame. There are other ways to do it, but we are trying to introduce them to how Canvas resize works.

Re: Canvas Resize not working after SP2 on X7
GoldAcres, there is nothing wrong with the canvas resize command. The problem is that you're not doing the math.
New Width = OriginalWidth + Left Border Size + Right Border Size
New Height = OriginalHeight + Top Border Size + Bottom Border Size
Let's lay this out
You start with a pixel dimensions of
Original Width = 464 pixels
Original Height = 509 pixels
You want to add a border of 10 pixels all around the image. To do this you have to add 10 pixels to all sides.
Left Border Size = 10 pixels
Right Border Size = 10 pixels
So lets feed these into the equation
New Width = 464 + 10 + 10
or
New Width = 484
Same goes for the top and bottom. You have to add 20 pixels to the total height of the image (10 + 10)
New Height = 509 + 10 + 10
or
New Height = 529
So the New dimensions of your image should be
484 Pixels Wide
529 pixels High
Hit the center button and it'll show 10 in all sections.
The image you just posted shows a new size of 600 wide by 451 high. Which doesn't match the last image you showed, so I'm assuming it's a new one. The reason it's showing -10 in the new image is because you haven't set new dimensions for the width and height. Just follow the equation to know what the New Dimension size should be if you want to add a border of a specific size.
New Width = OriginalWidth + Left Border Size + Right Border Size
New Height = OriginalHeight + Top Border Size + Bottom Border Size
Let's lay this out
You start with a pixel dimensions of
Original Width = 464 pixels
Original Height = 509 pixels
You want to add a border of 10 pixels all around the image. To do this you have to add 10 pixels to all sides.
Left Border Size = 10 pixels
Right Border Size = 10 pixels
So lets feed these into the equation
New Width = 464 + 10 + 10
or
New Width = 484
Same goes for the top and bottom. You have to add 20 pixels to the total height of the image (10 + 10)
New Height = 509 + 10 + 10
or
New Height = 529
So the New dimensions of your image should be
484 Pixels Wide
529 pixels High
Hit the center button and it'll show 10 in all sections.
