File order x7

Post by brucet »

What have I done? When I click Open file all my files come up in descending order rather than ascending order. ie they always came up smallest number/oldest file first. Now they are coming up highest number/newest file first.
All my Win 8.1 folders have the files in the correct order but x7 has suddenly decided to work backwards!!!

What have I done and how do I fix it?

It's terrible getting old and wondering what I did.

Inside the open file dialog just right-click in a blank area and the standard file list options will pop up. Including Sort by, where you can determine what value you want to sort the images by and whether they should be ascending or descending. As well as other options.

Thanks. No idea how I changed it. But back to 'normal'.

If you're in "Details" view there are headings along the top of the file window that say "Name" "Modified" "Size" and maybe more depending.

If you click on one of those headings it'll automatically sort based on that heading. And if you click that heading a second time it'll change the order between ascending and descending.

It's possible, and sounds like, you accidentally hit the "Name" heading and switched the sort order. But I wasn't sure if that was the case so I had you use the context menu instead.
