Corel PSP x7 and Windows 10

Post by Fortkentdad »

Tried searching the forum for Windows 10 and did not get any relevant hits - must not be searching correctly because I can't be the first to ask.

I did go to the Corel store site, Corel PSP X7 does not list Windows 10 in the specification.

Is anyone running PSP x7 on a Win 10 machine yet?

I want to upgrade when the chance comes but don't want to have to create a dual boot system like I did when I installed Windows 8. At the time I was using Elements 10, it did not like Windows 8 and Adobe said it wasn't ready for it. So i had to tweak my system and make it a dual boot to Windows 7 or 8. I also found several of my games didn't like Win8. But now I can't recall the last time I booted to Windows 7, and when I did it was to catch up on the updates which took hours.

But really don't want to go there again if I can help it.

Will have to ask similar question in the Aftershot forum too.

Official answer: Service Pack 2 made X7 compatible with the current release of Windows 10 Technical Preview.

Since Windows 10 isn't complete yet it's hard to say if they'll do any last minute tweaking that'll break the compatibility but for now it should work just fine. And I highly doubt it'll be a problem.

Also, no not many people are discussing Windows 10 on these forums just yet.

You can't be running Win 10, it's not released yet! What Corel have done is made X7 compatible for Win 10 when it's finally released for those who will use it. As Levifiction says, there maybe a few more tweaks needed later. We'll have to wait and see.

Trueblue a Technical Preview of Windows 10 is available for people to download and install and play with. It's unstable and constantly has updates coming out but it's a public beta test that Microsoft does to get as many bugs as it can before final release. So, yes, they can be using Windows 10 already.

I asked the same question on the Corel Facebook page.
Their reply was to say their team are working on Windows 10 "Apps".
That of course is not what I asked.

But good to hear that it is working and probably will continue to work.

I currently have a dual boot system - choose Win7 or Win8 at boot up.
Did this to run programs that were not Win8 ready when I went to Win8. Some games and Adobe Elements 10 didn't like Win8 and crashed all the time thats why I added a second alternate OS to my system. Now I don't need it.

So will take the opportunity to reconfigure my system when I go to Windows 10. I have two SSD's and two hard drives (one 3T and one 2T). Not exactly sure what I will do with that capacity. I have lots of redundancy that is well redundant. Some programs loaded twice, once with Win8 settings, once with Win7 settings.

I will use the 3T as a partitioned backup - it can back up the other three as the two SSD's do not amount to one T ( One SSD is 120GB the other 180GB). I also have a 3T external backup (and a 2T portable external backup). So I can make one SSD my OS drive and put onto that drive the OS and just my primary programs (e.g. Corel). The other SSD could be used for other programs. OR maybe I should create a RAID? (Been told that but not sure how or why). SO - until I figure out just what to do I'll sit tight and then take some time maybe this summer and reconfigure.

Any suggestions from the computer tech here?

What he said. :D

It's not terribly unstable. In the 54 days I had the previous build it locked up on me only about 5 times. And it never outright crashed. Once I figured out what was creating the lock ups, I was able to stop them.

If it's unstable or not ready for public use, then there's obviously going to be problems not just with Win 10 but software that runs on it.
