Creating a Video File

Post by 56belair »

After I edit my individual AVCHD video files from my camcorder into a .VSP file I need to create a video file in Corel x5. I select Create Video File-> AVCHD -> 1930x1080p. When the file is converted and I play it back, it looks grainy. I want my final video file to look a bit sharper like from the source of my camera. Please advise

Hi Paul

You do not give much detail regarding your video files except AVCHD..

From Share – Create Video File --- Is the option Same as First Clip available, assuming your first video clip is indeed one of your Avchd.
If available copy and paste the properties details/text to this post.
Also
Create your own template.
Go Settings – Make Movie Templates Manager – Choose Add – browse for one of your files.
Give it a name
From Share – Create Video File at the bottom of the list will be your template

The above should render using the original videos properties.

Oh --- press F6 – edit tab – set Resample quality to Best

Same as First Clip available is an option.

Attached are the properties of the file I'm creating that doesn't look as good as the source video. The snapshot is on the left

Also attached are the properties from the source video which I'm making my edit from. The snapshot is on the right

By going from 1440x1080 to 1920x1080 you are adding interpolated data into each frame which will not really give you a better picture but in fact seems to be degrading the video. If you want the video to be as good as the source you should choose the original video properties.

Hi Paul
What version of Video Studio are you using....

There seems to be some confusion with these properties.
Just to double check…Please use Video Studio, start a new project --- insert a clip to the timeline, right click and choose properties, post an image of that window.

Now do Share – Same as First Video Clip—the render details show in the properties box, use the mouse to copy and paste those to your post.
They should be the same as the image above.

Right but in his first post he said " I select Create Video File-> AVCHD -> 1930x1080p. but his properties info is the reverse
In that case he is dropping data

Hi canuck

if Paul did use the "same as first clip" then it is quite strange to render to 1440 x 1080

I think we need Paul to confirm his workflow?

I thought you wanted to create a 1920x480 AVCHD video? Your last snapshot shows the properties for a mpg (DVD quality). Is that what you created? If yes then of course it may look grainy compared to HD video.

The attachment o.png is no longer available

You should render your video using the properties shown on the right hand image, Share Same as first Video Clip should do that
