VideoStudio x8 ultimate.
I just put together a number of photos and video clips along with some music tracks. The total project length is less than 7 minutes. However, after rendering the project, the audio tracks are no longer matched up to the photos by the end of the video. They are fine at the beginning. Any suggestions? It will take forever if I have to manually guess at the correct position of the photos and video clips. I don't want to have to rebuild the project in another program either. That would be a real pain.

Re: audio track shrinks
When did you put in the audio clips -- before or after inserting everything else, including transitions, and after trimming clips? Do you realise that inserting clips/photos into the timeline usually means they will overlap slightly by default, in effect creating a cross-fade transitions. Moreover, this transition effect cuts a little off the end of one clip and off the beginning of the next one...
What format is the audio? And how did you trim it to fit into the timeline? Was it part of the AutoMusic which came with VS?

Re: audio track shrinks
Thanks for the replies. First let me say that when I play the project in edit mode, everything is timed correctly. It's only after rendering that the timing is off. I deselected smart render and that didn't change anything. The audio clips consist mainly of two mp3 files. These were inserted into the music tracks before the photo and video clips were added. I didn't trim these music tracks. I just added photos and videos to fill the time. I didn't use AutoMusic. I understand what you are saying about the transitions trimming the time of the clips. Only a couple of the video clips are not muted and I tried rendering with and without audio ducking to see if that was the issue. It wasn't.

Hi
The MP3 Lame codec can cause problems, you are best converting the MP3 to Wav, then adding those to the timeline.
And if that does not improve things, can you provide details of the Video, right click the clips and select properties, mind you we will probably recommend converting those to a more editable format.
Either way see how wav audio performs?

Okay, it looks like the WAV conversion will work. When I inserted the WAV files into the timeline, the timing in edit mode was different than with the mp3 files but similar to the rendered mp4. I readjusted the photo and video clips to fit the new timing and I'm rendering the mp4 right now. Hopefully that takes care of the issue.

Re: audio track shrinks
It worked! I'm not sure what was going on with the mp3 files and codec, but the issue seems to be in the timeline edit mode and not in the render. The playback of the mp3 files was too slow during the edit mode which made the timing off after rendering. By the end of 7 minutes the audio was so off during edit mode that it was 10 seconds off by the end. And actually the last audio mp3 was starting at the correct point but finishing to late during the edit mode. So all the delay was in the last 4 minutes of the project. The WAV file played back properly during the edit mode and the final render was identical to the edit mode playback. I hope all this makes sense.

Re: audio track shrinks
Hi
Thanks for the feedback, nice to know the recommendations work…
The MP3 Lame Codec has been an issue for some for many a year, some MP3’s work ok….. I did notice recording to MP3 with a data rate higher than 192 seemed to cause problems, that was a long time ago so cannot say that it would work every time, I use wav’s where I can
