I cannot install PSP X7 SP2

Post by JBarelle »

I cannot install PSP X7 SP2. It comes up with "missing files" or "Access Denied" errors. I will click the retry button when they pop up and it will continue to install but then before it finishes, it quits and closes. I have Vista Home Premium (at work, can't upgrade :() and it's a 64 bit machine. I installed the 64 bit version of PSP X7 but it's as if SP2 searches for 32 bit installation files on my machine. Anyone know how I can workaround update my program to SP2?

Perhaps uninstall X7 and then reinstall with the recommended versions of the 32 bit and 64 bit version. I thing there has been mention before of problems where someone only installed the 64 bit version of PSP (posibly back at PSP X6).
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

@JBarelle
Please don't remove PSPX7 as there is nothing wrong with the installed program but it fails while installing another one.
Can you please send me in a private message your e-mail address that you used for the registration of PSPX7 with Corel. I will open a case for you and our support team will contact you.

I too would completely uninstall X7. Do a full registry clean then reinstall the recommended 64 and 32bit versions.

Please do NOT use any kind of cleaner tool like CCleaner or Revo! These tools have no clue how a program works and especially most of the people who use these tools have no clue how an OS works. As a result of this, they remove keys, which shouldn't be removed.

In case somebody experiences a problem, we have got our own tool for PSPX7.

A number of times I have installed successfully by a simple uninstall (Control Panel/uninstall program) followed by installation, no additional cleaning. Once or twice I've used the more extensive uninstall tool provided by Corel, which you have listed in a separate post. As Simone points out it may be better not to do a registry clean and to keep it simple.

I have been using CCleaner for many years and always found it successful in fixing many issues that have arisen, especially where Corel products are concerned.

You can use the cleanup tool to uninstall X7, you will find it in a pinned post above.
